I tested positive but my partner tested negative for herpes.

I have been in a commited relationship for almost 5 years. We are planning on getting married and having kids one day. Two weeks ago I went in to the Dr. because I nicked myself while shaving and I thought it had gotten really infected (maybe a rusty blade, yeast infection from my soap, to much sweating I wasn't sure). When I went in the Dr. told me it wasn't an infected wound it was a herpes sore next to a small nick. We got it tested and I came back positive for herpes.

I have only had 3 sex partners including my current partner and my partner has only been with me. The Dr. said it most likely came from one of my past partners. She said the virus can lay dormant for years before showing signs. However, I told my partner and he got tested. His test results came back saying he has been exposed to the herpes virus but that he did not have it. Which is a relief but at the same time confusing. How can he be clean if I've had it for possibly longer than 5 years and we've been having sex for 5 years? I don't want him to think I've been unfaithful and not to sound like a bad person but I wish he had come back positive so I wouldn't feel so alienated. I've read that the blood and urine test often come back negative because they are "weak" tests and the only way to confirm is by taking a sample from the sore it's self. So is it possible that he has the virus but it is currently dormant and that the test is not 100% reliable?

Any extra insight, knowledge, or previous experience would be appreciated on this subject matter. Thanks!

I honestly believe that someone has stepped out within the five years.  I don’t want to be intrusive but I just don’t see how this virus can bounce between the two of you and he doesn’t test positive. Exposure to the virus could mean he was exposed 3-6 months prior to him or her being tested. But due to the vagueness of how and when anyone can contract this disease, it would be impossible to pinpoint who transmitted it first.

If you tested negative prior to being in a relationship with this individual then chances are somewhere in the five years... one of you got bored and stepped out.

Hello, I have been told i was diagnosed with HSV2,  and I am also immuno-deficient due to the loss of my spleen. My boyfriend likes to f**k around with hookers into which I found out too late. I believe he had just been with one not too long ago and must have received a non condom b*****b. Now he has a form of impotency and can not stay hard long unless it is getting a b*****b even then it gets a bit soft. Anyhow, I tested positive and his results came back negative. I had a agg test and I have never had a breakout. I was swabbed at the GYN and there was no sign of herpes. I have been holding this in and have not spoken to anyone about it, except for the GYN and my boyfriend.  Is it possible mine showed but his did not yet?

Hi, so I need help advice because I can't wait a week for results.

Okay so in 2016 I was diagnosed with HPV, and only had sex once unprotected by my previous partner. In January of 2017 I was tested again by my obgyn and he told me would call me if I had any results. (prior to this I have been tested every year since I was 18 because of yeast infection issues) There was no problems except in 2016. I never received a call of anything being wrong in 2017. The entire year of 2017 I was celibate I can count all my partners on one had. Well I never got tested at the end of 2017 because I knew I hadn't had sex and I didn't want to take BC anymore.

Fast forward to 2018. I recently had sex with this guy in the Air Force (they frequently get tested as well). We had sex and almost a week later I noticed to bumps near my anal and vagina that were causing me pain, but I thought it was from the sex (since I hadn't had sex in a while). A few days later bumps appeared on my vulva. I immediately freaked out and started crying because the first possible thing that popped up was herpes. I went to get tested and I have a yeast infection. He assured me he had just gotten tested in February and hasn't had any partners since. When I went to the doctor she told me it was herpes before I even got the results back. So, of course I lashed at him and he was in confusion because he's never experienced any types of bumps or sores previously or had any current ones on him and neither have I! He went to get checked at the lady said he has no open sores or wounds and we used a condom, so the only way I would have transmitted the disease is if he had active sores on his genitals??

I was looking up forums and saw a post about severe yeast infection, but I also saw that the herpes virus can lay dormant in your body for years and you didn't even know you have it. I think its just weird I haven't had sex and even when I did indulge in sex I never had this problem (granted I never waited almost 2 years). I have no symptoms of herpes; no cold/flu like symptoms, no swollen groin or swollen lymphnodes? It is very painful to pee because of the sores and I am very uncomfortable. The Dr. prescribed me medication for herpes just so I wouldn't have to wait a week if I did have herpes??

    What do you think?
