I think I have lichen sclerosus?

Hello everyone,

I am a 18 year old female and I know that's a unusual age for lichen sclerosus. I went to my GP today and I told her that I have white plaques on both sides of my vulva and I it looks like one side of my clitorus has fused to my clitoral hood.

However, she dismissed me but did refer me to a gynaecology clinic. My appointment is in 2 weeks but these white plaques are growing rapidly and my clitorus fused in about 3 days.

I have no other symptoms apart from the white plaques on my vulva and I believe it is also on my anus.

I am not sure what to do about the plaques and would like some advice on dealing with them or whether anyone else has had symptoms similar to mine?

Hi if you are in the UK get some hydromol ointment to use as barrier cream. You need a strong steroid cream which you won't be able to get without prescription but you may be able to get a mild one hydrocortisone and use that in the mean time hope this helps and good luck x

Hi soso, I just wanted to give you a heads up, be very cautious when using this. I have been too and I'm afraid after a bit of use, it may have made the thinning a bit worse. Please just monitor your body carefully when choosing this method.

      I get mad at self because I have days where I know I'm eating things I shouldn't and it makes the itch go crazy insane, so I turn to the hydrocortisone again, and regret it the next day, like today >,< it="" works="" yes="" but,="" i'm="" not="" sure="" at="" what="" cost="" rolleyes ="" there's="" quite="" a="" few="" other="" threads="" started="" here="" about="" other="" forms="" of="" treatment="" that="" are="" having="" great="" success.="" there's="" also="" a="" game="" started="" that's="" ending="" up="" with="" valuable="" info. ="" search="" here="" for="" vulva="" issues="" and="" you'll="" find="" more="" helpful="" areas="" to="" check="" in.="" above="" anything,="" no="" matter="" what="" method="" you="" choose,="" just="" watch="" closely="" and="" i="" wish="" you="" the="" best="" of="" luck.="" this="" is="" a="" frustrating="" condition="" but,="" with="" the="" help="" that="" everyone="" has="" been="" so="" wonderful="" at="" sharing,="" it's="" making="" things="" a="" bit="" easier="" to="" manage=""><3 >

Sheryl...the with hazel spray and then applying the 98% to 100% aloe vera gel will ease the itching.  It's a very healing and moisturizing combo.

It's less rare than you think in younger age groups. You did the right thing to go to the GP and I am so glad you have a specialist appointment. Rather don't treat the plaques yourself until sure of what they are. You could ease them if they are painful or itchy, there is tons of info here regards discomfort. I use coconut oil (organic) and an assortment of thinks to ease discomfort. Lubricants of some kind do ease it.

I was quite happy about the specialist too. I have tried applying coconut oil on it and I may be wrong but it seems like it accelerated the process? I may just be imagining it but thank you.

soso, it sounds like you have a more aggressive version of LS if you're fusing so quickly. I hope you aren't trying to have sex when you're flared up like this. The friction will accelerate it. Think of sugar as throwing gasoline on flames, so watch the sweets. Don't use any soap. Coconut oil should be good. If things are bad, it's not from the coconut oil.

I'm old now, but I got LS when I was 22. I still had two children and lots of sex, so take heart.

Hey I might be suffering from LS too and I'm 23 . I need to know wether you had a hypopigmenged patch on your labia or something cause didn't it effect the way you or your partner looked at you? I'm sorry but it has been shattering my confidence. And though the creams etc help with itchiness but does the patch ever go away? Does the appearance ever go back to normal??? Any help would be appreciated !

Spray witch hazel every time you use the restroom dab dry then put 98-100 percent aloe Vera gel in it and at night I would use Manuka honey 15+ make sure it says 15+ that us the grade of the healing stuff in it you can find all this at your health food store I would also look into changing your diet I went gluten free some woman also cut it sugar and dairy, and I take wheat grass everyday,pro-biotic I prefer the children's gummies lol I also take coconut oil, biotin, and evening promise oil and a take an herb to regulate my hormones all of this keeps it under control for me I no longer use my steroid ointment I don't advise just doing your steroid ointment unless you try done things to get it in control good luck

Athena, do you mix the witch hazel in water and then use it as a spray, if so how much witch hazel? Also the Manuka honey, does it have to be 15+? I have one that says 30+. Sorry for all the questions!

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I will try going gluten free but it seems so difficult to do.

Use the witch hazel straight in a spray bottle and spray it on. Dab it dry and then use 98% to 100% Aloe Vera gel...will help eliminate the fusing. The stronger Manuka honey is fine.  Use that at bedtime with cotton panties. Try your best to go sugar free as you will heal much quicker.  Gluten free is not as tough as you think...there are many alternatives out there. Once you get used to being gluten free it will seem easy.

I use straight witch hazel and the research I did in the honey I didn't see anything that high but it did say that the number is the grade if the healing properties in it and you need at least a 10 for it to be affective so I would think it is just more potent but on would do a little research

It is hard it is a life still change the hardest part is having people eat what you are craving the most right in front of you but I found that the better I felt and the reaction after eating it when I have been clear when not eating it I crave it less you body will start to recognise that that food is the culprit And you will start craving healthy things and your tat buds will change you can do it
