Hi accourding to my GP the drug itself should be out of your system in a couple of days!!

However the effects maybe longer lasting. If you have side effects then in my experience you have done the correct thing under advice from  a doctor. One thing that has become clear to me is that we are all diferent and the way that this type of drug acts on people will have a variable effect by individual.

The main thing is that you took advise and were removed from the drug very quickly so the effects should be short lived!!!

Thanks Dave yeh I'm glad I did I was feeling giddy n getting nausea plus insomnia, it does help tht I have epilipsey mind u thou I've not had a for for over 10 yrs

Sounds similar to my experience with a dry mouth, nausea, loss of appetite and lethargy, being my main side effects.

I made the mistake of attempting to beat the drugs side effects so stayed on them far too long, with the result that the side effects are taking  a significant time to deminish!!

Looks like the epilipsey is now well control andyou don't want to aggravate the situation with mind bending drugs

      I hope this helps

I've been told to carry on taking them my doctor said to cut them in half for 2-3 weeks and take it from there so you can say I am on 5mg of citalopram

I hope that you have stopped sooner than later that you don't get any withdrawal symptoms!!

      Good Luck!!!

The drug will be out of your system as you say BUT, as you have had a bad reaction it is how the body reacts to the withdrawal of the drug from your system. I have been off the drug for almost 7 weeks now and am still with withdrawal symptoms i was on Cit for only six weeks as well . It appears to be very much an individual issue as to if and how long you suffer withdrawal. I do hope that you get away without ant withdrawal and as you have only been on it a v short time then it should be minimal.
