I’ve given up....turning to Zoloft

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have been struggling for so long, tried vitamins, probiotics, hormones, counseling, i would try to eat a healthy diet but i can barely stomach liquids!! I have been living on the nutritional drink boost for months now but i weigh 89lbs!!! I am wasting away....perimenopause is killing me! I feel like im seasick constantly, when i do try to eat it makes me terribly sick! Now i have no desire for food at all (even when i felt bad food still sounded good) i have been finding myself depressed cause i actually wake up in the morning just cause i want this hell to end!!! i dont have a life anymore. My day revolves around waking up dizzy, nauseated and no energy. I am wanting to take Zoloft cause at least it numbs me into a robotic state where i dont care that im sick and i go about life in autopilot. My only trouble is starting the zoloft, the start up effects are brutal!! I have tried zoloft 5 times in the past 6 years, i normally cant make it past day 40 cause it ruins my appetite but it lifts my depression/anxiety. So how long did nausea & appetite loss last while people took this?

    Hi Brandy

I think I might have responded to a previous post of yours. Not sure though. You say you've tried hormones already? What kind were you on? Were they bio identical? Have you ever tried a holistic or alternative dr to run labs and see whats going on? They will be able to get you the right hormones and the proper amount which is huge on having success. I was always skeptical on holistic but it was the best move I made. My general dr just wasn't going to be able to address any part of menopause as far as I was concerned. Most just want to hand you a anti depressant and send you on your way. Each of us has our own journey to make, this is just my thoughts as I have had great results going this route. I'm now on pellets and will stay on them the rest of my life. I'm 59, post menopause for 4 1/2 years now. I had 10 years of peri and thought when my periods finally ended things would get better. 6 months after periods ended things didn't go back to normal. I got on bio identicals and haven't looked back. Good luck to you.

      Hi Malina

As I told Brandy, getting to the right dr that will look at your whole picture. I just can't say that loud enough! When I started seeing my holistic dr ( this dr had 22 yrs as a general dr first) he looked at my whole profile from birth to present. Including minerals, vitamins and hormones. He even noted any lead fillings i had in my mouth. If I was a breast fed or formula fed baby. What kind of drugs I may have done in the past. What kind of foods I ate daily. Bathroom habits. This dr knew me before i even entered hos office. This is the kind of dr that will dig deep and find out exactly what supplements you need etc. It is the whole picture, you will find out, hormones, supplements, diet and yes, exercise that will bring you back to feeling well. Holistic and alternative drs are not covered by insurance. That keeps a lot of people from seeking their help unfortunately. For me I always tell people, its hard to put a price tag on our health. But to feel really good again is worth every penny of it .

Brandy your case sound a bit like mine. I've tried just about everything. Progesterone is all ive been given.. if not progesterone than estrogen. But never both at one time when i know all my hormones are low. I've lost weight too. I can tell when all hormones just do a drop , Its like my face just shivers up along with the rest of the body. I have no muscle mass whatsoever on my body. Like you, my diet is so limited. I have food allergies, hot flashes that seem to come from the gut, wake up with heart palpitations, etc. Someone mentioned how it can be other factors going on as well, i think that is the case with me . I did discovered that I had mercury toxicity , mold, candida and over growth of bacteria in my gut. But to make long story short, symptoms started onset of perimenopause, which i guessed compromised my immune system. I hope you find something that helps...I know the feeling.

      malina,

I live in the states . You will have to do a search of your area to find what you have available. If you have a compounding pharmacy in your area they are a good place to ask for a list of doctors too. I searched my area pretty good and was lucky to find one close but i was prepared to drive 6 hours away if i had to in order to get the fix. Hope this helps.

Brandy, Zoloft is a lifesaver for me. On that note, our bodies to change and sometimes the SSRI that worked for us 10 years ago no longer is tolerated. i encourage you to stick with it and find one that works. While you deal with the horrible effects of SSRI startup, see if your do will prescribe Lorazepam just to get you through that tough time. Lastly, not sure if it is ok to post this here but I live in Massachusetts where cannabis is fully legal, and I have found that it is a lifesaver when the anxiety flares up. It also definitely kickstarts appetite, particularly strains with THC-A. Good luck and hang in there! xo Heidi

hi! hang in there and find the correct solution for your symptoms, zoloft is only going to hide them. be strong and go speak with a doctor if you can find one. i am also lost, my gp is not capable to help me in any way. i am taking lyrica for pain and works a bit, but it s not what i have expected.

It might not working for you because your serotonin might already on the high side like mine and once it builds up higher it is way too much for you and that can cause serotonin syndrome and that is not good at all because it can be deadly. So be careful if your serotonin is on the high side already. I found out the hard way. My serotonin was not the high side and I did not know it. This past July I tried Prozac it was horrible. Thank goodness the Lord was taking care of me. I had read about serotonin syndrome in October of 2018 so I recognized what was happening to me fast enough to catch it. 3 days of a nightmare, but at least I did not end up in the ER. My doctor has it now in my charts no medicines or supplements that increase serotonin. I give the glory to the Lord for that. I am so sorry you are having to go though this my prayers are with you.

Thanks for that advice!! i gave no idea if my serotonin is too high, i just know i get very sick on antidepressants...i even have sleep paralysis where im awake but i cant open my eyes or move my body!! Scary stuff

The Lord cured me years ago of sleep paralysis and I agree it is a horrible thing to have!! Years ago I got the book sleep paralysis what it is and how to stop it by Chris White on amazon.

I dont have the issue with sleep paralysis as long as i dont take zoloft! When i took the ssri i had that happen for a fee weeks but once i stopped the med it went away. I doubt i will take zoloft now that i remember how hard i had it when i did take it!

Since it gave you sleep paralysis I bet your serotonin was too high because that causes all kind of problems like that. You may also be adrenaline dominant and that is why you are having a hard time with peri menopause. You might need something to calm your adrenaline's. Progesterone cream can help calm the adrenalines and anxiety, but it can take 6 months to year for it to build up high enough to really help. I only use bio identical progesterone cream. It will began to help some as soon as you use it, but again it takes a while to see the full effects of it usually 6 months, but for some people it can take a year.
