I've had a blocked right ear for 3 months

My right ear is blocked and it's driving me mad. I have LPR (acid reflux) which may cause it as well as post nasal drip. I have seen ENT and they say is a blocked Eustacian tube. I can hear ok but when I speak all I can hers is my own voice in my head ! Any ideas how I can get over this. I've tried decongestants, steaming, ant acids. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

What did the ENT say about ear-syringing?

Well they said my ears were clear 😁

Cool... Did they say how long the Eustacian tube would take to clear up / re-absorb into the body?

No they didn't say anything. I hope it will clear I'm really fed up with it

Do you know of any ways to help clear the Eustacian tube ? ENT says it's blocked due to excess mucus and irritated from mild acid reflux, plus I'm a flight attendant which exasperates all of the problems due to cabin pressure

Yeah I just been for a revisit, muchos lack of sympathy and, "probably be better in a fortnight".  In fairness it is better everyday, and I can hear stuff crunching around on the 'brain' side of the eardrums.....

I have just bought Eardoc off the internet. It's a kinda vibrater that unblocked the eustatian tube. Well I have to say I think it's worked, it's certainly better. My ear is a lot less blocked. I'm going to keep using it and see how I go !

Sorry to hear about your problem...Let me tell you what just happened to me and perhaps this helps. i have been having similar symptoms...Among the many things I have read was...people findig relief with epinephrine...well today I went to the ENT...and after I tell him about all my symptoms he sprays my nose with some kind of anesthesia to insert the camara to see my eustachean tube...so now sitting at home I realise my symptoms have diminished...the ringing in my ear have stop and my esr feels better...check out epinephrine to see if it works for you too.

Hi there, so did the ENT doctor prescribe you epinephrine ? Or did it just clear after the doctor examined your nose and throat with the camera ? Epinephrine from what I gather comes in tablet form. Infact there is a form of epinephrine in cold and flu tablets.

Hi again...I was prescribed Afrin and it seems to have eased the pressure and made my ear pop!! Maybe it works for you...you can buy it over the counter.

I asked the doctor and he told me that it wss not epinephrine but Afrin and he prescribed it to me and it seems to help.

My left ear is blocked since I got a really bad headcold.  I went to the ENT and they did a hearing test said that both ears are normal.  Said nothing wrong but my ear is blocked doc.  He said just leave it alone.  Really?  I know there has to be a blocked tube so off I go now for a second opinion.  When I speak I hear my own voice in my right ear.  It makes you feel so out of sorts and I am afraid to walk down my steps.  I tried decongestants too.  Nothing.  I also have acid reflux and I wonder if that is the culprit.  I just don't know, so disgusted.

Hi Ellos...Im sorry to hear that you are going through Etube problems, you are not alone...hey Im here, in a distant land suffering from basically the same thing. My two ENTs said my left ear is fine but of course it is not. I use AFRIN and it brings some relief. I sit out in the sun cause I live in the tropics and it helps also, I do gargles with peroxide diluted in wster 1/2+1/2, this helps and this one maybe difficult but since I can go to the besch I breath in sea water. None of them have been able to cure it but I feel they give me some relief. See if you can try any of these, perhaps saline water can be used instead...hope you feel better soon.

I am so furious with the ENT I went to today saying nothing is wrong.  I know it feels like cotton is stuffed in my ear and the tinnitus (hissing noise) makes me crazy.  I know the dizziness is around the corner.  I am going to see an inner ear specialist on Friday with the hope that he figures it out for me.  Thank you for replying.  Feel better

I'm going through the exact same thing 5 months after a headcold, 2 ENT's a hearing test all normal. Yet my ear is plugged and crackles all day long it's driving me nuts.  I also have reflux and was prescribed 2x PPI's my reflux is controlled but my ear is still messed up.  I told the Dr's it started after a bad flu/sinus infection and they just brush it off.  Most recently they told me they would do a biopsy of the nasopharynx lymphoid tissue to make sure it's not something else.  I don't know what else to do...did you get your second opinion?
