Hi Alexis, i too have recently been diagnosed but I've been prescribed Amitripyline only. It's interesting to find out on the forum the different GPs approach to treatment. I have only been taking my New med for a week now and haven't noticed Mitch difference to be honest , apart from the fact I sleep better than I did, meaning less trips to the loo during the night too! and the itching has improved a bit , tho not completely. I'm due to titrate my dose tomorrow so i 'll know more then. The pain and stiffness in my muscles and hands and feet is still as bad. I have GP appointment next week to discuss how I'm doing so wl mention then . I'm still learning myself but people on here have been very helpful and supportive. Good luck with your new meds, hopefully someone here will have experience of the same. Best wishes and take care. x

Hello Alexis,  I'm sorry to hear you have this disease.  I was diagnosed in 2011.  I don't recognize the medication you are on, but there are so many.  On top of pain medication, I also take Tumeric capsules, vitamin D pills, B12 shots monthly.  All these medications help with the various complications that come with Fibromyalgia; such as Fibro Fog, feeling tired and run down, pain in arms, hands legs, etc.  depression.  Weather can also bring on changes.  The most harmful thing I believe, is stress...that can really bring on a Fibromyalgia flare up.  Good luck to you.

    Hello Alexis,

Welcome to this site. Lots of good support and understanding on here. Must admit I haven't heard of these drugs, only diazepam. Seems like a lot tho'. I only take amitriptylene, helps a little with pain, but more with sleep. Whereabouts do you live? I am in Hampshire.

    Take care, Anne

I finally was diagnosed 4 plus years ago after ther hernia operation I had. That is when everything started. I had a dr that wanted to put me on fentanyl but told him staying on Norco was better because what's going to happen when I really need some pain medicine. I am on Valium, Neurontin, Fioricet for migraines and compazine for nausea. There are a few others when needed like the migraine meds. I know this is one frustrating disease and so many unanswered questions. I feel like it  doesn't matter if I eat well or don't eat well I don't ever see a difference. Sometimes I have my binges of eating some junk food. I hope you find answers to your questions and I'm here for you if you need to chat.

Hello lucy, thankyou so much for your reply. I feel at the moment any others experiences can only be helpful to me as I feel very gloomy abouth the whole thing. I'm not having a very good day today, my body feels like its just going to collapse on me. I am also having a lot of problems with my left hip which has been going on for a couple of months now but is really affecting my walking ability at the moment. Is it quite common to have problems with one part of the body more than the other?? Am just feeling very fedup at the moment.

Try to keep your head up as hard as it is sometimes. Keep researching and asking for others opinions. Do you remember when all yours started? Trauma, surgery, car accident?? Where do you live, hot or cold right now? I know that the last few days have been very hard on my body because of the cold. I decided to go walk a bit for the first time in ages and boy did I pay today for that, but no pain without gain. Sitting and doing small things at home is not healthly for me! What do you do? I had just quit my job after 42 years because of health issues not being able to take it anymore. I would love to hear more feeback from you! Take care and have a good day.
