I want to hear the results you have had from aquablation.

I'm 58 years old and very sexually active After many years of BPH symptoms and chronic prostatitis my urologist has recommended aquablation.

I've read many post aquablation posts here but they are mostly from the first days of recovery. I'd like to hear from men who are completely recovered from the procedure.

I'm mostly concerned about ejaculatory function and urine flow after full recovery from aquablation.

Thank you for your help

An update. I had the Urocuff test done and i was surprised by the results. My urologist hasn't gone over the results with me yet but the nurse who did the test showed me the printout and the graph shows me in the green good zone so this test doesn't look like it supports the need for aquablation. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks for trans rectal ultrasound and cystoscopy. Hopefully these two tests will clearly show whether or not I should have the procedure.

My problem as i said earlier is chronic prostatitis which my doctor thinks is due to urine reflux because of BPH. If I don't in fact have urethral blockage the other tests may show another cause of recurring infection such as a anatomical abnormality, prostate stones or chronically inflamed tissue which may need to be removed regardless if i have BPH or not.

As a correction to what I said earlier, there was a misunderstanding when I asked the nurse earlier. My doctor does keep his patients in the hospital overnight and releases them the next day usually without a catheter.

I'm six weeks and doing very well No RE Ask your DR how many they have done and what is the percentage of RE Mine did about 30 and 70% had RE but the RE number was dropping Its important to stress if RE matters to you so they can stay away from the area that causes it Stay vocal about it until they put you under They clean up with TURP so I expect some of it happens then when they may get too aggressive

Thank you. I will be stressing the importance of maintaining ejaculation. I have a list if about 20 questions I'm going to ask about. The clean up is one of them. I thought the point of the procedure was to not use traditional TURP methods. I've seen videos where they have not used it and where they have I thought that the only heat used is for spot cautery at the bladder neck to prevent excessive blood loss.

I plan to ask about his rate of side effects.

I asked his nurse how long he has been doing aquablation and she said since November. The doctor told me that since starting this he has almost completely stopped doing TURP. I don't know how many he has done but he and his partner are the only ones doing it in a several hundred mile area and he gets a lot of out of state patients so I'm guessing he does at least a few per week so maybe 30-60. I'm going to ask.

After many weeks of waiting I finally had my diagnostic tests done. UroCuff flow test, trans rectal ultrasound and cystoscopy. I had decided that if the tests indicated aquablation was appropriate I would go ahead and have it done in order to treat my urinary symptoms and chronic prostatitis. However, as it turns out my UroCuff test showed normal urination and nothing on the ultrasound or cystoscopy indicated any problem necessitating surgery. My prostate measured larger than normal at 44.6 cc. The cystoscopy showed narrowing of the urethra and the prostate pushing up on the bladder but no medial lobe.

Basically there was nothing to indicate a problem serious enough for surgery. Now he wants to treat my urinary symptoms as overactive bladder and my chronic prostatitis as a non infectious pelvic pain disorder. I'm going to try pelvic floor physical therapy.

Congrats on not needing the surgery. It's not fun.

My understanding is that in most cases prostatitis is not an infection, it's just pain and soreness. I would wager that having sex 4-5 times per week is on the high end for a man in his late 50s. I know I get soreness for a few days after sex and if I had sex every other day I would be sore all the time. . . Good luck.

Sex doesn't make me sore but when I have a prostatitis flare up I sometimes ache after ejaculation. My prostatitis pain hits me at any time of day or night. Usually but not always antibiotics get rid of the symptoms within a couple of days.
