IBS & constant tiredness/brain fog
Posted , 15 users are following.
Hi, I am new to this! I have recently been diagnosed with IBS after 2 1/2 years of chronic pelvic pain. Have got large adhesion on my omentum (large flap of tissue covering bowel). I am due to see an IBS specialist nurse next month. I am trying to eat gluten/wheat/lactose free. I would like to know if anyone else feels constantly tired and like functioning on autopilot? I am so tired i can easily go to bed at 7pm and altho i dont go to sleep immediately....i feel better for being laid down. Is this normal? I work part time and have 3 kids and i am in bed before they are! Thank you x

I'll explain vitamin supplents such as tablets.
The body does not store them and also it confuses the body into peeing out you reserves of vitamins you have in reserve from foods you gave eaten that the body can hold in reserve.
Adding raw oil to each meal helps the body to absorb vitamins from food.
The oils help all the cells in your body become more flexible allowing enzymes to be released plus helps the cells to absorb nutrients from foods.
For people on vitamin supplents for long periods there is a danger of the body not having any vitamins in reserve.

I recommend brown rice as a carb
I'm like you I have stopped the wheat and gluten.
I decided to go with brown rice as a replacement as candida suffered have reported being OK on brown rice.
I figured if them guys can handle that then I should as those candida sufferes get so bad with bread especially the white type.
But just cutting out gluten and wheat did help a bit but not much.
What's working for me is a balance diet maybe it could help you.
I had some great advice of my dieticiaon I put all her ideas into practice and after 2 weeks I was so much better.
She got me started on following a diet that was all fresh food.
I make tortilla wraps home made from just brown rice flower patatoe flour and water
I couldn't resist not having bread no more
She got me doing a calorie count for each meal and then adding a certain amount of oil
And sugar but only from fruit and veg.
And oil from low saturated oils like sunflower oil.
She has been great in helping me back to recovery.
This is what I do for every meal now I'll try to explain it lunch 70 grams of brown rice plus 100 grams of white cod equals 350 cals.
That's the first step counting up the cals from foods in your meal next adding the oil
You have to devide 350 cals into 3 this equals 120 cals roughly.
Now with that figure of 120 I need to find out how much sunflower oil makes 120 cals to add to the meal and I was shocked to learn that only 15 ml of sunflower oil is 120 cals which is only roughly 3 teaspoons of oil
So now we have a total count of cals of 470 cals.
Now its time to add the sugar to do this I must decide 470 cals into 10 let's call it 50 cals its actually 47 but you don't have to be spot on just near enough.
So I need to find out how much sugar makes 50 cals.
And also she had me getting my sugar just from fruit and veg.
For 50 cals of sugar from fruit its 1 large pair
Or I would add 100 grams of carrots to the meal plus half a pair.
That's it I followed this for two weeks and I was 100 percent better.
She explained to Mr that adding the oil to each meal helps to discard baddies from the food plus the high amount of energy that oil creates help the digestive system to digest the food.
I was so shocked to learn that oil creates twice as much energy cals as sugar.
But we still need the sugar
Now she explained why after I started feeling better she said by adding oil and sugar to food this way it give the digestive system enough energy to digest your meal without having to overtime or use up your reserve energy that we have.
Well it turned out that body had no energy in reserve because I had never done this before and burnt my self out.
She's also got me on a meditranian diet now.
Hope you find this useful and good luck

Although I feel guilty about it, I DO now let myself sleep until it passes. The next day I always feel fantastic, almost high with positive feelings. I am thankful that my life and my husband let me have that time to recover, although it really bothers my hubby sometimes. He has to go lots of places without me, which he really dislikes.
I also, once in awhile, eat things I shouldn't, but it gets so frustrating - always feeling deprived and left out. I also have Celiac Disease, an ulcer, hypoglycemia (no sugar or sweets), and high cholesterol, so my diet is really really limited.
It's always comforting to chat with others who suffer with IBS and dietary restrictions. Other people might try to understand, but they can't really.
I wish you all the best, God Bless you, unsinkable xo

It's so nice to know that there are other people with IBS who get this tiredness thing. Does anyone else also notice that their IBS is worse at that time of the month? I swear that is when mine is at its worst!
Just wondered if anyone else had tried the Paleo diet. I used it to lose weight for my wedding (with some modifications as I kept milk in at breakfast time because I eat porridge.) The diet consists of cutting out processed foods, lentils and pulses, dairy (although actually I would say reduce, don't cut out), refined sugar-eating honey as a sweetner, all grains (I cheated-porridge for breakfast), and for some reason ordinary potatoes as they are high in the glycaemic index, although if you aren't trying to lose weight these probably aren't something you'd need or want to cut. Basically the Paleo diet consists of everything pre-farming (eggs are ok-wild birds lay eggs, meat is ok-can hunt for it, as is fish, most veg are ok, except peas and any form of beans bizzarrely, and mushrooms are fine but Quorn is not and neither is Soya. Things like tinned tomatoes are fine however.) My IBS cleared up majorly while I was on this diet. Kinda regretting starting eating bread again, although I missed foods I didn't miss the cramps! There are lots of Paleo recipes out there Obviously ask your doctor before a diet change, but it really did make me feel more energetic and I had virtually no cramps! Think I need to rethink eating bread again.

Hi Ducklet,
I have been diagnosed with IBS over a year ago and feel that i am feeling tired alot and very foggy.
I to feel that i can go to bed at an earlier time and think nothing of it.
I feel as though i have had IBS since i was a teenager (with me being nearly 27 its a very long time)
I only take antispasm tablets and have not really gone to my dr about feeling tired and lathargic, with me having had blood tests and nothing come back on them. My dr looked at everything so cant be my thyroid.
I also experience bad stomach pains and D&C but more D than anything.
It gets to a point where i cant cope and just want to shut myself away. But in reality i have to go to work and do everyday living.
I feel your pain though and thankfully do not feel alone in all this.
Take care
Feeje
