IBS fainting from pain

I'm new to this so not sure really how works. I have suffered from ibs the past 5 years I'm 24 years old. On multiple occasions I have had a so called attack from it during night. I have been rushed to hospital on a few as The pain is floor dropping I have fainted during all of these I gashed my head at one and scaring family a lot when happens as I turn pure white and eyes role. Is this normal for pain to be so survere it knocks me out. Hospital every time have sent me home after a couple days in saying I'll be fine. I don't feel I will be. It happened again last night but this time I didn't pass out as wrapped myself in cold damp towel but was up all night in agony. Really I think I'm looking for reassurance I'm not alone ?.

I get pain upper right quadrant. Not so bad these days more of an ache, however, for many years when I had a flare up the pain was incredible. I too was rushed to hospital and sent home with being told you just have to live with it.

Yes not what I wanted to hear. I've had loads of tests but no diagnosis. Started when I was 18 I'm now 47.

Definitely push for tests and second opinions, I did but after getting the same answer which is "your going to have to live with it" which is very disappointing, I've learnt to manga it with good diet, no drinking alchol and exercise. During a flare up ibuprofen and paracetamol combined and as strong as is allowed.

I'm doing fine, so your not alone, but still push for answers.

Don't use Dr Google to much.

    Good luck.

Google invariably gives you the worst case scenario. Can drive you mad, so be aware I've googled this stuff for a decade and convinced myself I'm dying many a time.

NHS website is good but use it to help with questions when seeing your doctor and second opinions should always be sort and if there's no diagnosis, push push push for how to deal with symptoms.

      Hope it works out.

Don't or take it with a pinch of salt because otherwise you start thinking you have Crohn's or something more concerning.

I had had all the symptoms for diabetes recently and even the doc was surprised when the results came back. I said normal are you sure?

Therefore even if you have the major symptoms you can still be incorrect

Hi maria.  I know just how you feel when you are made to feel like a nuisence and when all then scans and test come back "normal" and they seem to imply "its in your head" etc.  Been there and worn the t-shirt.  After 3 years and every scan and test under the sun I was living on Morphine for the pain and fortisips for food.  I demanded a second opinion and was referred to a hospital 60 miles away.  An EUS, CT scan and 3D MRI, bloods and stool tests.  Finally (and I dont want to alarm you) they discovered I had a NET (Neuroendoctrine Tumour) in the tail of my pancreas.  They are exceedingly rare tumours and its only when a patient has been suffering the symptoms of IBS for a long time that the specialist gastroenterologist started looking for a NET.  They are very slow growing and I am being monitored.  Special bloods are taken and it takes up to 8 weeks for them to come back so I am still waiting to see if its a non functioning NET or a functioning NET which will assist with what treatment can give me a better quality of life.  I know its easier to say but dont give up, even if the medical profession are fed up with you.  I was told "You have had all the tests" its IBS and functional gastro problems.  I just lost it and said there must be something that is causing this horrendous pain and gastro problems and now at least I have an answer.  I feel better knowing that "it wasnt all in my head".  Dont give up.  keep going and ask for a referral to a specialist in the gastointestinal field.  Good luck

This sounds serious get thee to a GP surgery for more tests to be on the safe side.

When I have an attack I become very weak, not as bad as you though, and I become dizzy and know I must get to the bed whereupon I sleep for many hours 12-16. An attack just exhausts me and often I wake the next day suffering either from a headache or sickness. This part may be due to dehydration after so much illness the doc said.

I detailed an attack in here and on that occasion I was lying in bed shaking exhausted and then my body said no you need to get up again so I did and from memory it was about 3am and I was almost crawling back to the bedroom as my limbs were so shattered I could hardly lift them. Also I have been so exhausted on some occasions I have curled up on the bathroom floor and slept not having the energy to cover about 4 strides. I know pathetic.

Unlike your symptoms I have never fainted but I have just fallen asleep as if drunk without having drunk a drop. I remember a former partner's mother banging on the door like crazy at about 6.30am and I had fallen asleep in her bathroom and no one could get in for work. Sounds hilarious but it was not at the time.

I can't believe I finally have an answer. I have had IBS since I was 10, I am now 66. No Dr. or anyone could tell me what was wrong. Just sensitive to foods was always the answer. My dad had the same thing and never knew what was wrong.

It's not as bad as it used to be. when I was young I would start cramping, get light headed and pass out. when I woke up I was very pale, cold, confused and sleepy. finally a real answer.
