Is anyone else here doing it. What length of time have you been doing it in total. I`ve been at it for five months now. I had Turp which was unsuccessful ...I worry I might have to do it for life..Anyone else in this situation on here.?

Thanks GinandPlatnic 46
It all makes perfect sense because it sounds just like me.
I was blind also in that I didn't see the chronic retention creeping up on me.
I agree that the reason we don't void after being emptied by a cath is because, up to then, we had only being peeing the overflow part of a 2000ml tank, and we were going our merry way thinking we had emptied. The reality was that we still had a huge amount in the bladder , damaging it slowly, bit by bit and painlessly.
On the bright side for me, I can dribble a few drops when I have 350 mls in the bladder.
A few weeks ago, I could only dribble out the few drops if there was 550 mls on board.
I will report how I am after TURP. I cannot be much worse anyway.
Regards
Dermot

Dermot, I wish you the very best for the surgery..I hope I dont sound patronising when I say how important our outlook is..stay positive..!
I sank into some very dark places during my recovery & now with hindsight (hidnsight again). I realise I was in a negative place and very, very impatient for things to improve, but like someone else on here, they also agree I think....the human body is pretty resilient and the DNA map of ourselves will keep trying to replicate a working model..
I like to believe the bladder in three years time wil be a complete replacement of the one I have now....it is said the human body replaces itself every 7 years with some organs/parts quicker than others...:))

Steve,
Yes, you are right. It sneaked up on me too and then I ended up in the emergency room with 800 ml of urine on board. Had a Foley for a week and then CIC for 3 years while I did research and my bladder healed. Had REZUM on June 28 and now I can finally pee. So grateful! Yes, sooner rather than later
