My right ear is thumping on and off...sounds like thunder or heavy drums.
Can't sleep,cant concentrate and I'm getting on everyone's nerves.
The doctor at the hospital emergency said I got trapped fluid behind the drum. The next day it went to town with drumming.....i want to end my life,I can't take it anymore!

Been to the free clinic today
Still have fluid behind drum and now my eardrum is cloudy.I told her everything. She prescribe me Prednisone and rescon gg
Everyone said to don't take the steroid because of long term side effects. I might take generic claritin d I have as backup.

Hi Tasha,
Take the steroids, as a one off treatment you'll be fine....it's when people have to take them for
very long periods of time, that potentially can run into problems from side affects. My neighbour
has been currently taking them for over 2 years to help control all the inflammation she gets with
suffering Rheumatoid Arthritis.....she couldn't live without them as the pain is so pain. She also
has to top up with steroid injection too.
So take the course that been prescribed and try and get rid of your ETD.....Claritin is only an
antihistamine, for allergies. However, you can take that too. I take a daily Citrizine antihistamine,
that helps with my allergies. The fluid behind your eardrum won't drain until the inflammation has
gone that has made your tubes swell so they're not able to drain and stuck together, which we call
in England Glue Ear.
How long a course have you been given ? If it's only a weeks course taking 6 tablets straight away
every day for a week., is unlikely to work, with the length of time you've been suffering ETD may
not be enough. I've posted to so many people on the Forum about steroids and they've found a weeks
worth hasn't been enough to clear all the inflammation. Approx every other year or two I'm
prescribed a 20 day reducing course....always helps me. My ears have now been clear for 10 months.
Good luck and really hope, if you take them, they work for you.
Best wishes
Anne

Morning Tasha,
How have you been prescribed to take ? Is that (1) 20 mg pill daily, or several 5mg daily ? I have to reduce my mgs after a week. Doctors are different how they prescribe. The mg I take are 5mg tablets, but I have to take the 6 at a time....then gradually reduce after so many days.
You'll be fine. It's rare to get symptoms. You may just feel hungry all the time and find it's hard to sleep until they're finished....you'll be fine. You must try and unblock your ears and stop that thumping sound and feeling....you've suffered long enough.
Make sure you take the prescription as advised. Hope they work for you, please let me know.
Kind regards
Anne

Morning Tasha,
So you've been given antibiotics and antihistamines.
Check on the leaflets in boxes for potential side effects.
How are your ears ??

I already had these symptoms last year on and off. The meds I had before also.No side effects from botics but Zryrtec can make me feel woozy all day.I woked up a little dizzy this morning, I don't know what caused that. I guess it's those cookies I ate late.

Hi again,
on a scale of 1 to 10 what situation are you at present with the ETD ? 10 of course being the worse.
Antihistamines can make us feel a bit fuzzy headed.
I think you've suffered log enough Tasha and really hope you get some relief soon.

Mostly 8 cause the doctor cant tell if it's glue ear or etd...and I cant go back for three months.I did tell him everything and they don't have free Ent clinic's ..im so exhausted and I'm ready to let it finish me off.Does this cause motion sickness when awakening cause I accidentally layed down and it got me dizzy when I woke up.its been a long time since that happened.

Hi again,
Yeah, this can cause dizziness. Glue Ear is Eustachian Tube Dysfunction....what the heck are they playing at. I think you've suffered far too long with this condition and after eventually getting that
appointment I was hoping they'd offer you something that would actually help. Heaven help those poor people that don't have medical insurance that have cancer....who helps them ??
So hard to try and advise when you're not able to see a private doctor to get the correct treatment.
You should have been offered Prednisolone and got this sort quick.
Sorry Tasha, feel for you

Do you think you could be allergic to the medication that's causing these symptoms ? Still getting
the thumping in your ears then.
