My right ear is thumping on and off...sounds like thunder or heavy drums.

Can't sleep,cant concentrate and I'm getting on everyone's nerves.

The doctor at the hospital emergency said I got trapped fluid behind the drum. The next day it went to town with drumming.....i want to end my life,I can't take it anymore!

Morning Tasha,  Been quite a while since we've heard from you.  I don't think using saline washes when

our ears are blocked is a good idea.  Says on the box that I have, do not use if ears are blocked.  The

    water may get into them.

So very sorry to are still suffering.  In case I messed any of your previous messages, did you get to see

    a doctor ?

I think you definitely now need after all this time a course of steroid Prednisolone tablets and a long enough

course to make a difference.  Mine is usually a 20 day reducing course.....one week wouldn't be enough

when ears as badly blocked.  There is obviously a lot of inflammation going on with your eustachian tubes

that the mucus, that is causing all the noise, is unable to drain.

Sadly, there is nothing I can advise except medical intervention and that you've already told us is out of

the question as you are unable to afford it.

Won't make you feel any better I know, but since April I had to take the Prednisolone, then stronger nasal

drops, which I now only have to use approx every 5/6 days.  All the inflammation has gone and I've manged

to keep my smell and taste too.  Unfortunately, the steroid nasal sprays that doctors give us for the problem

of ETD are no longer strong enough for me, suffered with ETD for too many years now and obviously immune

to them now, hence the steroid Nasule Drops, which I think you're unable to get in the US.

Again, so very sorry to read you're still suffering and really wish you were able to get help.

Christmas won't be a very happy time for you.  If you end up with an earache you must seek

help and get antibiotics, as you don't want the mucus that's still sitting in your eustachian tubes

turning nasty like it did for me a number of years ago and turning into bacterial meningitis.

    Kind regards to you Tasha

    Anne

No doubt you've tried everything yourself that hasn't helped

Thumper is back...its night time and its keeping me awake.Rumbling every few seconds. It stayed away for a month, but now every belch or yawn it rumbles or thumps.Being poor sucks. The saline kept it at bay but now I'm fresh out and broke. So I'm back suffering with insomnia in thumping form. This is hell and no cure in sight.

Hello Tasha, it's been a while since you've posted, so all was well with you.

I can't be sure about the thumping noise you're hearing, but I had it myself

the other day, but only for a short while.  I think it's the nerve in your ear

that is pulsating....that's what it felt like for me.

Obviously, anything to do with nerves playing up could potentially be caused

by stress.  If you think that is what has started your up again, try not to stress,

      Are your ear/ears blocked ?

      Hello Annie 05078,

the same and thing happens to me. Like Tasha, I a not stressed, I can be watching television and the aches and throbbing hit. One day I was at the movies. Suddenly, I got three sharp pains in my right ear.

Hi tosha sorry it’s been a while since I last wrote. I am having issues with my ear again. Only now it is on my left side too. It started a few day ago. However, I went to a new doctor and this doctor ordered a ct scan. I got the results back but haven’t heard from the doctor. I understood the results to mean I have an osteoma. Maybe you have the same? I’m not sure, remember I am not a doctor so don’t quote me.

Last July an emergency doctor told me I have fluid behind the eardrum. It must be still there..

Tasha that is scary. I’m worried it will get bad and you will lose your hearing.  The doctors took a long time to find out what was wrong with me, I feel a ct scan should have been done a long time ago. I had eustacian tube dysfunction and I’m thinking this osteoma caused it. I think next time you go to the doctor you should request a ct scan. I had to go to a different doctor, the other one just treated my symptoms and didn’t look for the root cause of the problem. I’m worried about you. Please don’t give up. I know it is hard to go to the doctor; these doctors should have done something it seems you’ve been dealing with this for quite some time now. I know exactly what you are going through as the same thing happened to me.

      Hi Tasha,

An individual I spoke with told me to try swimmers ear drops. I purchased them over the counter at Walmart. I was told the drops should help with thumping, dizziness, etc. By the way are you getting dizzy, headaches, sight problems, etc?  I never did before, however, I am now, that is why I ask.

I’m assuming this thumbing is like a throbbing, correct? Does the throbbing then lead to aches in the ear? Mine does. However I am not sure if it’s due to throbbing.

I was also told a noise machine may help. I have this thingy that goes on the wall and looks like a waterfall. It also makes sound like one. I am going to try it tonight. I will let you know how it goes. I hate night time because my ear problem gets worse as well.

Hi Tasha, I tried the swimmers ear drops last night as well. However, they didn’t work, the noise still occurred.  I also tried the noise thingy, I noticed I slept better than I have in a long time. I think that heavy ness in your ear  must be from the abnormal liquid within the ear. I’m trying to think of other things you may try. I wonder if that liquid within the ear is causing you to have an ear infection? This person that told me about the swimmers ear told me antibiotics in pill form will not work because the infection isn’t in the blood stream, therefore antibiotic drops work best. I’m not sure how accurate this person is. I’d assume if an infection is In the blood stream it has spread, but not sure (again not a doctor!).

      What about about natural remedies:

maybe peroxide with a tiny bit of alcohol in the ear. Put it with a dropper( the kind that often come with child medication). I believe the pharmacy has them free, but not sure.

There is this ear wax removal kit, I know it’s not ear wax however, I wonder if it may work anyway? Maybe it will remove or loosen up whatever may be blocking the liquid from escaping.

Could you have an osteoma? I think this is only diagnosable through ct scans.

Im sorry if you do not find this helpful. I am much like you, I just want it to stop and trying anything over the counter may help, even if it isn’t the intended usage.

Have a nice day Tasha hope thumper stops thumping.

its still thumping and now its sore too.i fell asleep unknowningly around 3;00 last night.Im losing my mind.I found a free clinic church today but its only open tuesdays.Sucks now im stuck suffering and hoping i dont get turned away from the place.Ugh this rumbling and thumping is driving me nuts. Why me....why im the only one with a rare disease that cant be cured.

I strongly believe you have an osteoma. However, in order to diagnose this, a ct scan must be done.

Cant afford any specialists or doctors and no insurance so im left to die

Maybe the church clinic can recommend something. Maybe they have a program that can help you or maybe they have a clinic or doctors willing to do things pro bono (free!).

I hope so I'm so tired from no sleepand my mom is getting tired of me talking about it

Trust me! I know how you feel my family and friends are tired of hearing me as well. When it comes to ear problems sleep is a pretty rare thing! Try putting soothing music on. I noticed last night I was able to sleep better than I had for a while. I went to bed at 2 and woke up around 8. Trust me this is a rare thing I’m up till my body fall asleep. Usually 5-6am then I have to be gone by 9am for work. No sleep has made me very grumpy and irritable. I can’t stand the noise either. It keeps me up. However, I noticed with the music and cotton balls with the swimmers ear stuff, the noise was not as bad. I believe it was due to the music. I am going to try mixing peroxide with very little alcohol together and see if it helps for my ear. However, I went to the doctor I have redness in the ears...... 😭 as a result I am hoping this peroxide and alcohol mix rids me of the infection.

      Hi Jenn,

I'm sorry if you mentioned it earlier and I missed it, but what do you have? Tinnitus? Caused by what?
