Immunity?

Hey guys

I have dah hsv type 1 for 4 years. I was just wondering if you get immun to the rest of your body for that type of herpes?

Does that mean that you cannot get hsv1 in your private area? So if you have hsv type 1 on your mouth and your partner has hsv1 on the private area, he cannot transmit hsv1 to MY private area because i alreday have the hsv type 1?

Yes, since you've had Type 1 for a while already, you should be immune from getting it elsewhere. It is still nevertheless good practice to avoid contact with active outbreaks in others. Fyi, you are not immune from Type 2.

That's okay. It's only a problem when you've not had it long enough, like under 4 months. After 4 months, you should have and maintain full antibody production.

The reason why the IgG antibody test for herpes shouldn't be done before 3 months is due to potentially undetectable antibodies caused by insufficient production. By 3 months, it should be readily detectable, and by 4 months at full production levels, hence immunity from same-type infections elsewhere. I am not sure if specific studies have been done on the immunity aspect, but that is what the leading herpes experts say, although you are still advised to avoid contact with active lesions as a precaution (as with most things, exceptions may sometimes exist). Incidentally, I see that the cure thread you also commented on is now gone!

      Okay

My ex bf had a sore on his penis and we had sex unknowing this was herpes. We found out after that ut was hsv1.

I have had hsv1 on my mouth for 2-3 years already. Should i be worried?

Remain vigilant for genital symptoms in the 2-3 weeks after you had sex when he had the sore, but I reckon you should be fine. Perhaps you unknowingly gave it to him through oral sex!

I washed myself with soap after we Saw the sore and I had a bad reaction which my docter said Was yeast infection so I got treated for that.

And yes I did give it to him through oral sex sad

I was just wondering if I could be infected in my genital area as well..

I doubt it, but stay alert for any possible symptoms 2-3 weeks afterwards as a precaution. You should be fine, though. It's not common to get it elsewhere once you have an established infection at one site.

I am glad. Through 2 years i have had constant itching and went to the docters sooo many times always says its not herpes and tests for it but always comes back negative. This is swabs. The last 5 months i felt stinging and burning as Well. Went to see the docter and he said it Was not herpes and took a Swab. Came back negative. Later i has bump on the pubic area and he said again its not herpes. Took a swab came back negative. Im seeing a specialist in Two weeks. Its just making me concerned. I have had vulvodyni for 6 years and had a lot of Yeast infections but yeah we Will see what the docters say.

But How Can they know you are immun if they did not Like test on it?

With all of those symptoms yet continued negative swabs, I think it's safe to say that whatever is causing you problems down below is not herpes. You have had a bump swabbed, swabs done when you've felt symptoms, but always negative. I would not worry.

      Im Sorry.. It Really sucks!

How often Do you have an outbreak?

Do you know if you could have symptoms constantly? Like itching, stigning and pain?

I am on no meds, only vitamins and supplements for general health, and I guess I have had a recurrence every few months on average. More frequently in the first few months of infection. However, my recurrences have been *very* mild (even my first outbreak wasn't too bad). So mild that I'm unsure if they've all been recurrences, or else just a single lesion that isn't noticeable unless I touch it and which heals in less than a week.

Symptoms should not be constant or near-constant, so I don't think it's herpes if you are experiencing that. Again, I doubt you have genital Type 1, and even if you did, Type 1 causes far less issues than Type 2 and rarely outbreaks or sheds, so is generally pretty inactive.

It sounds like a lot of outbreaks.. but then again.. it is "only" your first year.. It should get better from now on.. hopefully!

I have had nearly constant itching, pain, stinging ish pain.. so i dont know. It is everywhere down there. Also on the pubic area. Just drives me crazy!

I dont know if is Herpes type 1 or not. I have not read about a person having hsv1 in the genital area after having cold sores in such a long time. Only one and who knows if he god infected at the same time as he did when he got infected with cold sores.

I am going to he docters in two weeks. Hopefully they can tell me what is going on. Have you read about people who got infected down there after having a cold sore for years? The same type. I know you can get hsv2.

It may sound like a lot, but it doesn't actually feel like a lot. Vast majority of days I feel completely normal. When I don't, it's very mild to mild and usually passes quickly. And yes, the first few months to a year are supposed to be the worst, so if it gets better after this, then that's a bigger plus!

What you said sounds about right. Unusual to acquire the same type elsewhere after developing immunity, unless caught at the same time. I'm sure there are exceptions, like where somebody fails to develop immunity for whatever reason, but this does not seem to be common.

I see. If they are small it might not be as hard.. Have you been dating after the diagnose? I know this guy and told him everything, he wants to with me to the docters and still wants to have sex. I'm still scared though. Never had blisters. But yeah. I hope that my body did not fail to develop immunity!
