Hello! I too am on mirtaz 30mg, been on it for around 6 months now and I've gained just over 4 stone. I've tried eating healthy for a few months and doing some regular exercise but it's not shifted any of the weight!

Hi all , just wanted to update about my "experiment" with a high fat low carb diet over the past week. To refresh I'm on 15mg mirt and have been for 7 weeks now,I had gained 20 lbs and despite trying to restrict calories a bit had been unable to shift it and was still gaining!

For the past week I have followed low carb eating and was gobsmacked this morning when I stepped on the scales to find I'd lost 61/2 pounds! Yep thats not a typo!! 61/2 pounds!! I'm ecstatic. Of course , its early days and I will continue and see what happens next week. Don't really understand the science behind why it should work, all I know is, that for me, It seems to be working.

Anyone interested could just google high fat low carb. You could also google diet doctor as thats a very informative site. Be really interested to know if anyone else has been able to manage the weight gain on mirt with diet

    hi there,

this blows my mind how people can have such a different reaction to this drug? i have only been on it for 7 days now.i was prescribed it bc of weight loss after my surgery..So far nothing yet..i guess ill increase it to 30 mgs and see what happens..

have you spoke to your dr about changing your meds?

when I started on it I was only 10 pounds over my normal weight which was due to depression overeating. As soon as I started on it the ravenous appetite kicked in. At times I gained a pound every 2 or 3 days. I have been on it a year and a half. I am still 30 pounds overweight but am tapering off and hoping it comes off soon and I am able to stay off of the mirtazapine. Good luck to you, I would talk to your doc about maybe adding an appetite supressant.
