    Hi Amanda

I never had injections either, aspirin for 6 weeks and of course those lovely white stockings to wear for 6 weeks!!

Please try not to worry, talk it all through with your district nurse and hopefully she will put your mind at ease

    Hi Amanda

I am 6 days post op and a Mental Health Nurse-it appears that people are missing the fundamental issue which is your anxiety and how it can impact so significantly on your recovery.Put your foot down withGP/and or Consultant and make sure your pre/post op preparations are made to meet your needs.I have mild anxiety and found the whole process anxiety provoking so be strong.Good luck. Good Morning Sarah, Thank-you for your reply. I have got acute anxiety. Have always been like this with any hospital. Hence the reason I am having the op in the Nuffield, but under the NHS. My throat is sore, and lower Tummy on left hurts., ( Bladder infection) To be honest GP s cant be bothered , and the Hospitals need more time with anxiety. I am also a carer for my Hubby, so have a double load. He has OA of lower spine, knees ,& hips , he is severely sighted & deaf. Anyway are you in the uk? If so may I have your phone number? I feel as though I am in bits. I simply am so so scred. Tearful. I have been told I have to have a spinal injection, will I hear anything? Regards Amandah

I understand that it is down to the consultants preference,  but I was sent home with anti clotting capsules rather than the injections. Like you I was really squeamish at the thought of injecting myself. Saying that whilst in the hospital they were usually  administered by the nurses with no pain at all.   You don't say if you are still in the hospital awaiting discharge or already home.  Not sure if it will be an option for you to ask for capsules instead? Good luck!

Hi Vicki, Thanks for your reply.I am waiting to go into Hospital hopefully march 2nd. The consultant is against anything else other than these ...........jabs. So I have arranged for the district nurses to come in. But I also have an infection on my toe, a corn. Which is very red. So we will see what the GP says.I am cracking up due to the anxiety. Regards Amandah

Oh dear Amanda, easy for me to say, but try to stay calm. Deep breaths and try to relax. I know it must be so hard as you have a lot on your plate. Take every step as it comes.  Yes I was told that it was down to consultant preference too. I guess I was lucky.  Maybe when you see him again you can explain your difficulty.  It can't be the first time he's been confronted with this. You mustn't make yourself ill over it, it's such a small part of the big picture of you being pain free and mobile! Try and think of the positives to come and tell yourself you will not stress over this aspect. Keep positive and get yourself healthy before you go in. Sending you warm hugs

Hi Amanda apparently my reply to you is waiting to be moderated cos I mentioned another place you might find support. See if it pops up. Try to stay positive my dear. I was NHS in a private hospital and it was a very positive experience. They will do all they can to makesure you are comfortable. Maybe you can tell your consultant how you are feeling when he comes round to see you before the op and see if he can be pursuaded. Are there exercises/routines you do for your anxiety? Deep breathing to help you feel centred and calm. Time to wheel these out. Just think after 2 March you will be on the road to recovery, being pain free and comfortably mobile again and better equipped to be able to help your husband too. What better goal! Big hugs.💞💞
