intermitent gross hematuria

Hi, I'm male - 26
I've been avoiding going to the Dr's for a while now, as I'm very scared.
Every few months, I have a day or so where I urinate blood. Also some bloodclots. No real pain.
Then it will seemingly dissapears for a few months, and will then return for a day or so.
I'm assuming it's something terrible.
Other symptoms seem to be frequent/weak urination.
Sometimes a mild/dull pain in one of my testicles.
Has anyone experienced this? WHy would it be every few months like this?
I plan to call my GP tomorrow as it happened again a minute ago for the first time in a few months and i'm plucking up the courage.
I'm petrified of the cystoscopy. (pain and embarassment)
I had my urine tested for an unralted issue a while ago, and it was apparently 'clean' (even though this was only a day after i'd been urinating what looked like almost pure blood)
How can this be??
What will the process be? (im in the UK)
Will gp send me straight to a specialist?
Even if my urine has no blood in it tomorrow, will they still be able to test it for cancer cells?

Simple urine sample is what they need..
Maybe cystitus ..
They will test your urine while your there
Dont ignore it again you may need antibiotics

Go wont you .. It may just be a urinary tract infection or cystitis
If you were not given antibiotics last time it may be an untreated uti, getting sorse
If your sexually active Clamydia ?also needs antibiotics
Get checked put your mind at rest..

Burning and pain when urinating are classic symptoms of urethritis. You may also feel the urge to urinate more often than normal. Other symptoms can include itching, tenderness, or swelling in the penis, pain with sexual intercourse, or blood in the urine or semen.

I gave a urine sample in the Doctor surgery, which apparently looked clean with no sign of infection.
I knew this would be the case, since like I mentioned, I gave a clean sample a few months back, shortly after an episode of hematuria.
I have to give another urine sample taken first thing in the morning, (was given another sample collector) and and was also given a form to have a blood test done ath the hospital.
I think she said that after them results are in, she'll ring me about going to another place who deal with urinary matters.
Hopefully be able to get these done tomorrow.
I'm still fearing the worst. If an infection is effectively ruled out(which I knew it would be), that leaves more nasty possibilities....

I hope so. i'm just more worried now than before, as my thinking is that if it's not an infection, and it's not kindey stones (as I don't have any pain) then does that only leave the really bad things??
As someone who suffers bad from anxiety and doesn't even like making a phonecall, this, along with the various tests and stress is not ideal.
Blood test tomorrow at a guess. I wonder if a blood test alone can rule out anything sinnister..

sometimes they do what you call full blood tests ..
they then check for lots of things from that blood taken ..
They call this full bloods..
i have them done yearly ( routine blood tests)
to keep eye on thyroid and liver function, chlorestrol etc etc etc
always a good thing to have..
you must not worry .. Or at least try not to worry ..

some kidney stones may be so small they dont cause symptoms such as terrible pain..
Also your blood test may also include this type of check ..
A full blood count – this is to check for signs of infection, to check how well your kidneys are functioning, and to check the levels of certain minerals that cause kidney stones.
dont fret... All will be fine ..

I don't undertand. Had my blood test a few hours ago! THey surely haven't got any results yet?
My Doctor told me that once the results are back from my blood/urine then she would need to book me in for further testing.
Guy that took my blood told me that my GP would have the results in about 4 days time.
What's happened??

you could ask your Doc .. Phone and ask the questions ..
dont worry about a cystospcopy its a very simple thing, i had one, its quite painless, just relax and let them do it, it doesnt take long ..
and straight home after ..
try not to worry, could just be something simple and only needs medication..
Phone your doc if you are worried why things have happened quickly, he can answer your questions, Docs have secretaries and she may be able to answer your questions too ..
or maybe they always intended to follow it up with a cystoscopy they normally do sometimes, a thorough check ..
