Internal tremors especially in my head
Posted , 41 users are following.
I'm a 28 year old female that lives a realitivly stress free life that is healthy and active. A month ago I randomly started feeling a INTERNAL shaking tremoring sensation in my upper body this lasted for a week and went away. In this time I had a MRI of the head and an ECG that both came back as normal.
Last week the tremors came back and for the last 3 days they have been solely confined to my head. I only notice it at times of rest if I'm watching TV or in bed and when I'm active I do not notice it. My doctors do not have an explanation for this and because my tests have come back ok they think I'm imagining it because there's nothing visual for them to see. Also for around a year I've had strange feelings of pins and needles that go through my arms and legs and stay for days. I'm not sure if this is related. Can anybody offer any explanations because I really do not know what this is and I'm extremely worried.

Internal vibration sensation - caused by stress??
Posted 2 years ago
I've found several forums where there have been posts from people experiencing this disconcerting feeling of an internal quivering or vibration but none of them are current, so I wanted to see if anyone else out there is having the same experience and can share an insight into what might be causing it.
I started to get this feeling of internal vibration when I was mainly lying in bed and then occasionally if I shifted position it might last for 30 seconds or so before disappearing. That was about 8 months ago. Now I feel it every night and during the day as well quite often. The other day after a short walk of a few hundred yards followed by a period of standing still it felt like the ground was vibrating because it was in my feet. It seems to move around to different areas of the body - sometimes I feel it in my legs, an arm, torso - it's quite random but often felt when I've shifted position in bed. At first I thought it was circulatory but now I think it's probably neurological. I thought I was having palpitations but an ECG showed nothing abnormal. I've also had a full spine & brain MRI as I've been having other strange symptoms of occasional numbness and sensations of burning and cold areas of my arms/hands and legs/feet and a sore tongue which comes and goes and often feels like I've just cleaned my teeth with menthol toothpaste when I haven't. I thought I had all the signs of MS, but it hasn't been diagnosed. I've also had a number of blood tests for immune issues, evoked potentials and nerve conductivity tests. Nothing! The MRI does show a lot of wear to my cervical vertebrae and two anterior spondylolisthesis - one cervical, one lumbar, so I wonder if my spinal issues could be the cause. My neurologist was doubtful. He also couldn't explain the vibration sensation except to say that it can be caused by a migraine, which I certainly haven't had.
I just don't know where to go with this now. My GP isn't interested and puts everything down to stress which I AM under it's certainly true to say, but I don't think she's right. I've had to pay for all my neuro investigations as a result because she won't refer me or do any more blood tests etc. I'm trying homeopathy, osteopathy and acupuncture as I want to find something that will relieve these weird symptoms and prefer to avoid drugs if I can.
I'm 58, eat reasonably heathily, no alcohol, only 1 cup of coffee a day and my weight is normal. I broke my wrist badly at the end of August last year which is when my problems all seemed to start. i
I also wonder if the metal plate that was used to fix the fracture could be causing some kind of strange reaction.
If anyone else is having these symptoms please let me know if you've been able to identify the cause and how to deal with it.

Hi there
Ive experienced internal tremors, buzzing, zaps for over six years. Its much worse just after waking up in the morning where it feels like my head is in a vice. I dont know whats causing them however they started after i received several vaccines to work in the hospital.
Ive been to many visits to the gp who in the end put me on Anti convulsants which helped me sleep but didnt stop them. I am now weening off them as
I have recently found two things which have stopped them.
I found that removing gluten from my diet elieviated the intensity of them
But the best remedy was found by complete accident, and thats nutmeg.
Not much is needed.. I sprinkle it in everything and in a hot drink of milk and tea/hot chocolate/decaf before bed.
It works for me every time..the doctor cant belive it..from such a humble spice.. Less is more with nutmeg though as its psyco active in large doses..
I highly recomend trying this.
All the best everyone.. X

going to try the nutmeg. i have ME and have 3 discs in neck worn . i had covid last year badly. hallucinations the lot. since then ive been left with breathlessness, short term memory and you guessed it..these weird and sometimes vigorous brain tremors. often as going to sleep or they wake me up. Although I had things wrong prior to covid...the brain shakes have definitely been since then..All meds are the same. Im not depressed and have a positive attitude all-round. Maybe its related to the tiredness? nutmeg time for me .

I'm sorry to hear about your problem, Isa. Maybe this medication will help.
Internal vibrations are a serious problem which often seem mysterious, and people suffer dreadfully with it. It comes on without prior signs and can be very disruptive to life and sleep.
I have suffered with it continuously for much of last winter even though I don’t use or drink any stimulants. (In fact, I thought for many months that it must be something external in my apartment building causing it, but no one else felt it.)
A neurologist then diagnosed it as being neurological in origin, with the brain sending out excess electrical signals to my body, and prescribed gabapentin to reduce this.
The gabapentin has helped greatly in dealing with this problem and also quickly restored my ability to sleep. It feels like it saved my life.
So do please see a neurologist if you are suffering with a regular feeling of internal vibrations.
Please post this on your forum, it could help many others who are in great distress.

Thank you for starting this thread. My wife is experiencing symptoms that started as tingling in her hands and feet, that progressed to "internal vibrations", and now to visible trembling. When she is having an episode she shakes so hard that she can't hardly stand. Her GP ran blood work tests and urinalysis tests which all came back normal. All organs appear to be functioning correctly. The next step was a Rhumatologist, and all results came back normal. Then the nuerologist started testing with an MRI and EEG; all results were normal. Since all of the western medical experts can't find a problem, we have begun seeing eastern medical specialists. Accupuncture seemed to have some affect on the trembling, but she does still have episodes that make her break down in tears.

Hi, i have the same feeling and it started on 2013 and it went away for a while but now in 2018 it came back with a vengeance. It is horrible i feel it like tremors althought it is not notice outside just inside my head and all my brain. Had an MRI and an MRA and nothing was find only in the MRI some white matter but the neurologist said it was not too worry about. I have Hashimoto's Hypothiroidism but i do not take any medicine for it or any medicine for anything just supplements and vitamins and i excersice, MTB every day, don't drink or smoke, eat only fish no sodas or junk or processed food, no dairies, gluten, i follow the Auto Immune Paleo Diet which is very strict and it was what helped me a lot at the beggining of my condition. Las night i had a terrible pain in my mouth but not for a specific teeth it was like burning and pain, i had crowns on my front teeth and i think that is what it caused it, maybe allergic to the glue or something. Well this is my story hope it helps but i have not find anything to cure it or minimized it. If you find anything let me know although i don't take FDA medicines they are almost all toxic. Thanks

I know its been a few months since the post was posted but anyways....
I have Chiari (key-are-ee) Malformation type 1. It's a birth defect that can go a whole lifetime without symptoms or can start in the late 20's or 30's. Mine was "awoken" after a bad concussion. Chiari is something that not many people see or know how to properly manage. Basically the brain is slipping out of the skull and putting pressure on the spinal cord where it attaches the spine to the skull. We get the internal vibrations at the back of the head, headaches, migraines, neck pain, dizziness, insomnia, nerve tingles in the shoulder blades the arms and the hands, we can have memory problems, speech issues (forgetting words) and an increase in ear ringing. Just thought I would throw this out there.

hi ,
i am also having same symptoms, did you get any answers about this?

Yes, the cause appears to be a hyper thyroid condition. Several doctors checked the thyroid and the results were inconclusive, then one day a test revealed a hyper thyroid. About three weeks after the thyroid treatment began the tremors stopped.
Good luck with your condition.

Hi there
I feel your pain - and confusion & can totally relate.
My advice is, go and have a Doppler scan and SPECT examination and see if the blood is getting to all parts of your brain.
Let us know the results if you can 😉
Louise
Oh PS, do you suffer from sinus issues too - just by curiosity, and had you had any operations prior to this happening? Have you had your estrogen levels tested also?
I hope to hear back from you 😊

Hi, have you tried to check your thyroid, mine is related to this and lately it been worst, i go for a biopsy on May 11 if they don't cancel, i hope not, because i am feeling horrible and can't sleep at night sometimes. I have Hashimoto's an autoimmune condition where your immune system attacks your thyroid or other parts of your body. Check for this also the lab is called TPO and TGab plus you should have free T3, free T4, TSH to check your thyroid
