Internal Tremors, Shaking, Jitters

Hello Lovlies,
Anytime I come across useful information I like to share. The only way to get through this "transition" in the best possible way is to stay informed as to what is going on with our bodies. Being as though every woman is different, what may work for one may not work for the other. But knowledge is key to being able to live our lives the best and healthiest way possible.
With that being said, I came across some information on the internal shaking and jitters. Now this info may not apply to you, but if if does, by all means take it and do more research on your own to help yourself. Some of the first symtpoms that I expierenced that started to really ramp up anxiety for me is the racing heart and the internal shaking. I felt the the shaking in my chest and stomach mainly, but I could feel it all over. At times I would get the racing heart with it.
The shakiness and jitters first. We already know that the decline in estradiol can affect blood sugars, and digestive issues. For some the shakiness and jitters can be due to the blood sugars and dietary changes can help to stable that during peri/meno if you are not a true diabetic. It can also be due to anxiety and adrenaline surges. The other possibility can be digestive related. Since the digestive system is affected by declining hormones we digest food slower and have more gas than we usually do as well as an excess of stomach acid. I since have been diagnosed with GERD as many women do in peri/meno and I do have excessive gas and stomach acid which causes that burning feeling. For me what has been causing that internal shaky feeling in my chest and stomach is stomach acid putting pressure behind the breast bone which irritates the vagus nerve that can cause the anxiety type symptoms. If I chew a tums or take an acid reflux tablet the internal shakiness and jitters stop. Drinking chamomile tea, ginger capsules or tea, tums, rolaids, omeprazole, zantac, cal/mags or whareverse you choose to use calms the stomach acid, calms the vagus nerve and neutralizes excess gas. Also when the vagus nerve is irritated it can cause heart palps and that is why when your reflux is acting up the excess acid pushing the vagus nerve can start palps. Now again this may not be the case for all, but it may be for some. So I thought that I would share the info just in case it may help you.

thanks for your research and suggestions
the shakiness and jittters are some of the severe symptoms ive had for more than 6 months
so i was drawn to your suggestions
ive read about a point just above the rib cage and two exercises that are supposed to help with controlling the vibration in the body, but it didnt work for me
im sure its related with digestion and the heart palps are a simultaneous occurence
i used to have acid reflux all my life, used to take antacids frequently.... till now........very seldom have heartburn
my digestive problems are wayyy worse.....something related to dumping

Thanks so much for this post. I've Been trying to explain this to my docs and they don't seem to get the connection. BUT this is how I feel. Usually comes on in the wee hours of the morning, and goes away as the day progresses.

Wow, I can't believe I just came across this thread of all you ladies talking about exactly the same symptoms that I've been having for months now. I'm going crazy wondering when it'll end (I'm definitely post menopause now - two years since my last period, although I know the transitional phase can last for many years after menopause - aaargh!!) My anxiety has on several occasions brought me to my knees and on the verge of admitting myself to A&E to beg for help and for someone to look after me 24/7. I wake up every morning physically shaking which lasts throughout the day and disappears by the evening, by which time I usually feel completely normal and wonder what all the fuss was about. I often wonder whether it's anything to do with blood sugar, but I haven't had any tests done. My GP has practically dismissed menopause as being a cause of my anxiety and I'm back on anti-depressants (for the third time since the age of 47 (peri-menopause hitting?) and diazepam when I really need it; and having counselling to get to the bottom of the reason for my anxiety. But I think it's only making me worse, since I'm dredging up any little hurt from childhood (which actually was nothing bad and probably all par for the course of growing up in a large family.) So now I've become depressed and feel very sorry for myself. This thread has made me wonder whether I should go back to my GP and insist on approaching the whole anxiety thing from a different angle. I too get the sudden surges of anxiety in my chest, constant feeling of inner tremors (as well as the very noticeable physical shakes), feeling tired all the time, no appetite (I have to force myself to eat, which doesn't help with any possible issues of low blood sugar) and feel generally miserable, out of sorts and unwell for most of each and every day. Waaahhh!!!

Hi Susan. I share all your symptoms and more. My worst symptoms being internal tremors, shocks throughout my body, my hand shake, fogetfulness, clumsiness and my joints and muscles ache. I have no energy and I find that I can only sleep around 4-5 hours at night. I've been for several bloods test, physical examinations, a neurological examination, thyroid blood tests and an ECG. They found that my D and B vitamin levels are low but they couldn't find any other reason for my symptoms. I was told that the shocks and tingling are caused by my anxiety and the forgetfulness, confusion and clumsiness was due to my lack of sleep. Sadly, I found that even the doctors can't agree that it's peri menopause. You are not alone Susan and Ido hope that you feel better soon. Kind regards.

I know it’s been a year but I came across this thread and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Many days I feel like I’m going crazy...I have GERD,gastritis, and a hiatal hernia....but just started connecting the anxiety, jitters, etc to the gastro problems. Been to the ER numerous times, thinking I’m having a heart attack...I’ve never been given any answers. I’m so relieved to know others are dealing with the same issues. I’m 43 and this started maybe less than a year ago..

Dear Jamie, thank for your explanation. I also experience sometimes strange "shakes" in the stromach area, sometimes even painful. I know that heart is a bit higher, but the feeling of something inside shaking makes me nervous, and more "shaky".

hi I am in a peri stage now, i experience bit of shaking in my upper middle stomach then followed by the same thru my throat, maybe 2sexonds each, its automatic when my stomach shake my throat follows,, I am so anxious when this thing happens,, so I try to calm myself by looking back on my lab tests, ecg bloodchems, urine abdominal ultrasound, xray a few months ago. Yes I did those series of tests because I complained of frequent headaches and stomach pains that time, also my blood pressure always goes high when the GP was about to check me. Back to my peri stage, I release clots during my 2nd-3rd day of my period,, i also feel there's something wrong with my stomach, once i skip meals, i surely will have this shaking after then later my head is aching like heavy but feeling like I'm floating in the air, I became more anxious I took gastrazole 40mg pills for one month it's gone, but when I experience skipping meals again all of the pains and shakings are present. I hate feeling those pains, coz it causes my heart pounds
