Internal vibration sensation - caused by stress??
Posted , 91 users are following.
I've found several forums where there have been posts from people experiencing this disconcerting feeling of an internal quivering or vibration but none of them are current, so I wanted to see if anyone else out there is having the same experience and can share an insight into what might be causing it.
I started to get this feeling of internal vibration when I was mainly lying in bed and then occasionally if I shifted position it might last for 30 seconds or so before disappearing. That was about 8 months ago. Now I feel it every night and during the day as well quite often. The other day after a short walk of a few hundred yards followed by a period of standing still it felt like the ground was vibrating because it was in my feet. It seems to move around to different areas of the body - sometimes I feel it in my legs, an arm, torso - it's quite random but often felt when I've shifted position in bed. At first I thought it was circulatory but now I think it's probably neurological. I thought I was having palpitations but an ECG showed nothing abnormal. I've also had a full spine & brain MRI as I've been having other strange symptoms of occasional numbness and sensations of burning and cold areas of my arms/hands and legs/feet and a sore tongue which comes and goes and often feels like I've just cleaned my teeth with menthol toothpaste when I haven't. I thought I had all the signs of MS, but it hasn't been diagnosed. I've also had a number of blood tests for immune issues, evoked potentials and nerve conductivity tests. Nothing! The MRI does show a lot of wear to my cervical vertebrae and two anterior spondylolisthesis - one cervical, one lumbar, so I wonder if my spinal issues could be the cause. My neurologist was doubtful. He also couldn't explain the vibration sensation except to say that it can be caused by a migraine, which I certainly haven't had.
I just don't know where to go with this now. My GP isn't interested and puts everything down to stress which I AM under it's certainly true to say, but I don't think she's right. I've had to pay for all my neuro investigations as a result because she won't refer me or do any more blood tests etc. I'm trying homeopathy, osteopathy and acupuncture as I want to find something that will relieve these weird symptoms and prefer to avoid drugs if I can.
I'm 58, eat reasonably heathily, no alcohol, only 1 cup of coffee a day and my weight is normal. I broke my wrist badly at the end of August last year which is when my problems all seemed to start. i
I also wonder if the metal plate that was used to fix the fracture could be causing some kind of strange reaction.
If anyone else is having these symptoms please let me know if you've been able to identify the cause and how to deal with it.

Not sure I understand the question. But important thing to keep in mind is: this does go away! Truly. Eventually. Be patient, don't panic. Don't let the tremors bother you. once you realize they aren't going to kill you, you're not dying, they will eventually subside. even if it takes months or a year.

this is absolutley anxiety
this was the same for me just a small vibration at first
i thought my partner was shaking the bed then went on to felt like i was stood on a metal bridge with lorries going over it
the more you think a out it the more you becone anxious
im not medical but since im going through this myself i can tell you what i was told
your subconsious mind believed your under threat and it enters survival mode in doing so it becomes aware of everything and it opens the i formation gate to your brain which it usually keeps shut this is to enhighten your senses which if you was been attacked would make you super aware
in your case this trigger seams to be your hand
if the gate does not close for what ever reason your brain keeps receiving all this extra information a d it carnt cope it doesnt know what to do with it and it becomes overloaded and results in anxiety
which causes excesses of adrenalin in your body this is why you are vibrating
you need to stop producing ardenalin and produce seratonin
seratonin is produced when your happy
since your hearing part of the brain is near the emotion part of the brain start listening to music you like
leave it on all day in the background
do yoga, stretch the muscles to help get it out and exercise to burn it off
get plenty of sleep and relax your body
been tense stimulates it
be conscious of been tense screwing your face up
drop your sholders and stop your mind from focusing about whats wrong and looking for a phyisical reason
this is cyclic and the reason is because your looking for a physical reason when the actual reason is because your looking for a reason the very act of because you feel its unresolved
i actually got to the point of feeling lime i was having a stroke in one half of my face my ears hurt and i could not stand sound
what ive just told you is what i was told and in two weeks im already seeing big differences
my body twitches are half im more sound tolerant ive even been to the cinema
uncomfortable be i was that bad at one point i could not open a bread loaf because the sound of rustling packets was to much
i was told it takes between 3months and 18 months depending on how sevier and the person to recover
i hope my experience can help you becore it gets to bad for you

What you've said here is really interesting and it makes a lot of sense to me and thank you for sharing your insights. I am quite sure that my adrenalin is too high because my body is in fight or flight mode and has been since my wrist fracture which was followed by a chain of stressful events which didn't help... nearly losing my sight in one eye, partner becoming very ill and is now disabled so I've ended up as his carer, and my beloved dog dying. How to change it is the problem. it's nigh on impossible to avoid stress and anxiety on a day to day level. I do yoga and try to relax but I know I don't have sufficient sleep - usually only 5-6 hours a night which doesn't help. Good to hear that things are getting better for you though.

forgot to mention
if you are wondering howyour hand can be the trigger
your subconsious is aware all the time
it controls your breathing movements etc its even aeare when your under anastetic and it know your having lumps of you chopped out or your been attacked and cut open
you can never shut the unconscious off from been aware only the conscious
having an operation on your hand is a perfect trigger
and if anything worries you about it is even more so
more over this type of event tends to happen to bright people who like to know how things work
as they have more analyitical brains
i would put money on you been bright
so just relax and it will all go away
keep relaxed, take yourself away from all tension and very soon you will see and improvement the you will habe something to substantiate a belief on
i can honestly say if someone had said to me anxiety could have caused my symptoms i would have struggled to believe
there real for me but no test has ever found anything just like yourself £4000 i spend on tests to find listening to music made more improvement than any drug
you can take drugs to sort anxiety but there often addictive and causes you another problem been on them and you tend to sleep a lot but only go there as a last resort
i prefer music and finally knowing i was my own worst enemy all i needed to do was relax
and stop looking for a solution just accept anxiety is the cause and i was safe
its about been safe tell yourself your safe what your experiencing is not necessary your safe your absolutley fine, you just feel odd right now but it will go now you know its not a problem

I had my first body tremor this week, which woke me up in the middle of the night. I thought I was having a stroke or seizure and had my daughter call 911. The internal feeling of the tremor was unbearable and scared me. The ER doc said the tremor was caused by anxiety. They did a battery of tests, head MRI, EKG, chest x-ray and blood work, all of which came back normal. Now, my fear is having another one, which increases my anxiety. I'm already anxious because I have facial nerve damage, which causes an electrical shock sensation to my tongue when laying down.

HI, I can sympathize with you about the tremor waking you up at night. A couple of nights ago I was also woken up by a strong tremor. It came through in a dream as a loud vibrating noise which kept getting louder until it woke me up but then I realized that the sound vibration was actually noiseless and happening in my body! Tomorrow I'm having a 48 hour holter monitor fitted to make sure that the vibration sensation is not caused by atrial fibrillation. I dread going to bed sometimes because I get some degree of it every night.

I had another one last night while sleeping. Second episode, but this one affected both arms, from the shoulders down to my hands. Felt like pins/needles. Where do you get yours?

Pins/needs verging on a burning sensation in my arms often accompanies my sleep vibrations. When this happens, do you also feel a slight pressure in the middle of your chest?

No pressure in my chest. I never had anxiety until several months ago when I started getting electrical shocks to my tongue, but only after I had gone to sleep. I start getting anxious (like I am now) when it starts to get dark and time to go to bed. I dread going to bed now in fear of getting an electrical shock and/or body tremor. Neither happens when I'm awake.

i get numb fingers a lot a night and often wake up with several of them dead which is another of the weird symptoms I have this regularly and worry that it could be MS but tests didn't show up anything. As they come round the vibration sensation in them is very evident. Interestingly I also get the electric shocks in my tongue as you describe. I used to think I must have bitten my tongue in my sleep as the pain would wake me up, but later realized it's some kind of nerve zap at the side of my tongue - very unpleasant, usually happens on the right side but I haven't had one for a while thankfully. What is your facial nerve damage caused by?

That's what I don't understand. Why does all this stuff mainly happen at night? Is it that we just don't notice because we're not focused on these sensations until we're quiet and in bed so we notice them more, or is it something to do with lying down? Weird.

The first time I got the electrical shock, it was the entire left side of my tongue. Since then I've had about six more shocks on the tip of my tongue. The ER doctor's diagnosis was neuralgia (specifically, the glossopharyngeal nerve). It seems if I lay down flat, that's when I get the shocks and only when sleeping. I've been sleeping upright in a recliner and haven't had any. I just bought a bed that reclines and once it is delivered, I will transition from the recliner to the bed. Aside from the tremors, I've also had restless legs and involuntary body jerks. I, too, am concerned about MS. I have an apt with my PCP on Monday and couldn't get in to see the neurologist until September.

For some odd reason, I think it has everything to do with lying down. Have you been evaluated by a neurologist?
Sally4Edgar laurel64844

Like you, my tongue shocks have only ever happened while I've been lying down in bed and on the verge of falling asleep. Yes I saw a neurologist privately because my GP wouldn't refer me and just dismissed all my symptoms as stress which I wasn't happy about. So to try to get some answers I went to the neuro who asked me to get an MRi of my brain, cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Also I had various blood tests and evoked potentials. There was 'something' seen in the top of my spinal cord described as a change of signal which was thought to possibly be due to an old injury, but nothing else out of the ordinary except general wear and tear and the two spondylolistheses, the lumbar one I knew about but not the cervical. I discussed the vibration sensations with him, which by the way have got worse since seeing him, and he said it was migraine aura?? I don't get migraines but this is apparently something different. Not sure I felt satisfied with this explanation, but he did reassure me that there was no evidence I had developed MS or other progressive neurological condition. That was back in early 2016.

what you feel like now it's call sleep paralysis thats mean your brain wake but your physical body think you are sleeping , during the sleep paralysis every person feel vibration and loud noises and also you can't move your body until finish it.
