IOL Exchange: POSITIVE Dysphotopsia

Posted , 21 users are following.

Hello,

I'd like to start a new thread ONLY for people suffering from POSITIVE Dysphotopsia.

Please share your story, tell us what IOL type and brand you have and whether you consider IOL Exchange procedure.

My case:

Tecnis 1-piece monofocal ZCB00, 2 years ago, terrible positive dysphotopsia including glare halos starburst and pretty much everything. I am scared of exchange, but am getting more and more desperate. Addicted to Pilocarpine since one month post op in order to alleviate the sympthoms. No PCO, perfectly located and everything is "perfect" like they always say.

I had IOL implanted in December 2019 and have had peripheral light streaks (starburst?) ever since. It is difficult dealing with car lights, street lights and tunnel lights.

I don't know the model in my eye, but I am pretty sure they used the acrylic, square-edged type IOL that causes dysphotopsias. What about using the "old-style", round edge IOL? Some articles that I've read say there are almost no cases of dysphotopsia with use of the round edge IOLs. As I understand it, square-edge ones were supposed to help avoid a PCOs.. However, I had beginnings of PCO within only a month of the implant!

I have to get my other eye done soon and I have got to get a surgeon more attentive and knowledgeable of these post surgery problems. I appreciate this forum and discussion.

      Hi, any update?

I have glare/flare haloes, streaks, starbursts after cataract surgery (June 2021). (Alcon Acrysoft IQ - Toric) Unfortunately, I was told the YAG was the answer and there was almost no chance of it making everything worse. WRONG! It exacerbated all the issues. It is so depressing.

All I hear is that "we've never seen this before". I do not believe that.
