Irritating , annoying comments about chronic pain .

Don’t you hate it when the able-bodied try to encourage you with cliches that no longer apply to chronic pain patients?

The one that irritates me most is, “If you can dream it, you can do it!”. or, "the power of positive thinking" ... Here's one of my favorites

just keep moving and be "Mindful" of your tolerances.

It makes me want to reply, “Really? I’m dreaming that you would feel my pain”.rolleyes

What at are some of the irritating response you receive from those who do not suffer from chronic pain? And what do you tell them?

I had a doctor telling me after he could not figure out the source of my pain to read a book called, "I'm OK, Your OK" "😡

I was in my 30's and had hip pain. Never occurred to him to do teats or X-ray. It took 8 years & 10 docs to finally diagnose OA in my hips👍I don't know if Imwas relieved or angry 😡!😌 ,

Now if I do say so myself that ???Ranks right up there with pure stupidity!😱

I was very recently diagnosed with AS. After several doctors telling me

"there's nothing wrong with me I just need to work out"

Most annoying thing to hear when there's actually something wrong with you.

hello Mrjam14, and welcome to our little every day check in thread.

Sorry took me so,long been recovering from tolal hip revision surgery. The system was recalled by the manufacturer And I lived with a fracture in the greater trochanter femoral found 1/3/17 during surgery. The hip was implanted 2011 of august and recalled 6 months later. All the yearly MRI's and X-ray never caught the fracture and my cries for severe pain walkin with a cane for 5 years went ignored. Even had other docs opinions.

Long story  short never give up keep searching for treatment for your back problem.

AS is very painful, and many spine specialists can help, with injections etanercept or depending on what stage you AS has evolved keep moving and find a specialist getting several opinions to treat your AS.

BECOME YOUR OWN ADVOCATE AND SEARCH YHE INTERNET FOR TREATMENTS AND SEEK OUT WHATS BEST FOR YOU. NEVER EVER GIVE UP,

      Hopexxxxx

i have a goog one was actually from my Physical therapist after hip revision.

Look you have to walk on that leg and put all your weight on it to get better. You have been here two weeks it's time to push it.

My response did you know that this total hip replacement was a revision and all the xplant parts were removed and a fracture was found in kynfemur bone.

So I said I'm want to see you walk on a broken bone held together with a cable system holding the 10" femur implant and bone together. Apologies... she didn't know thought it was quote"A simple primary total hip replacement." Yeah really that's why I was sent to acute recovery convalesce for 20 days because after all both total implants or revisions are simple recoveries.😡

Hi Hope...good to hear from you. Sorry I have had some problems to deal with and didn't feel able to talk until now. We didn't get to Australia coz our visas were incorrect. We were at the airport about to board the plane at 5 a.m. and were told we couldn't go...So upsetting as we have waited so long for this trip. All the family were waiting at the other end to welcome us. Cried for a week. Just able to cope right now....wet season terrible weather playing havoc with my body. Take care my friend, don't try to do too much....love and big hugs..G

O MY GOODNESS GLORIA, I had absolutely no idea how sad 😭 I feel for you because you were so looking forward to the trip. 👎All packed & ready to go! Could you skype bu computer for The Holidays and see the family?

I hope you can update ur visas and go sometime soon. .🤗U deserve a break!  It takes three months in the US to update visas. They have changed all the rules lately on visas due do terrists groups and unfortunately travelers become the victims.

Sorry to hear ur in the rainy season we are too and many ice storms shutting down the state AGAIN.I was scheduled to go to acute care by ambulance and they had to cancel for 2 days do to ice on the roads. Cars trucks were like bumper cars going down hills and overpasses. It was crazy. 63 car pile up on the highway.

well according to folklore in the US FEB 2 the Groundhog dragged out of his nest in PA. saw his shadow and the US has 6 more weeks of winter. This is Feb. someone should tell the people of pa. that winter is usually until May 5

If you have a chance go over to the alcohol forum under my last post regarding the woman who, almost murdered my son. He moved out and well it's very heart breaking!

be thankful for what you are now and keep fighting for what you want to be tomorrow!

      Love and 🤗
