Irritating , annoying comments about chronic pain .

Don’t you hate it when the able-bodied try to encourage you with cliches that no longer apply to chronic pain patients?
The one that irritates me most is, “If you can dream it, you can do it!”. or, "the power of positive thinking" ... Here's one of my favorites
just keep moving and be "Mindful" of your tolerances.
It makes me want to reply, “Really? I’m dreaming that you would feel my pain”.
What at are some of the irritating response you receive from those who do not suffer from chronic pain? And what do you tell them?

I was wandering about SA or inflamitory arthritsis, so just a quick re-cap I had a flare up early this year, sausage fingers and toes, all joint pain, knee pain, chronic back and neck pain (which has be present since surgery) all the usual that lasted about 6-8 weeks, I had knee pain for over a year but this then spread to both when this happened, now I haven't experienced anything that extreme since other than back pain which is 24/7 chronic and debilitating and sacrialic joint pain even after cortisone injections which effects my walking (that's usual for me) but i do have joint pain in most my joints and knees but no where near as bad as that flare up it's quite mild in comparison, I do have a bit tingling in my toes like it's going to start again but it's been like that for weeks so my question is could this just be a one off or could it still be related I'm not sure how this disease works, if you have it is it extreme all the time or is it normal for it to settle, my bloods have came back normal just waiting in MRI which will be in January, 😊

??Wow Caroline sounds like your are also suffering from psoriatic arthritis when you mention sausage toes and fingers. I have had PSA and OA TOO,
i have tried all the injections and don't help.,only a spinal block helps.
We we are all suffering and we have learned to adjust as we go along.
When you have the MRI then is when you will know better about how to treat many issues your suffering from.
Information is power, information doesn't always translate into knowledge but at least you have the basic facts in front of you. It is important to be aware of all the treatments available🤗

Ah I'm so sorry you really do have a lot to deal with but your positivity comes across in abundance, I hope to have a fraction of your strength one day ??
Even tho I have not had a diagnoses yet I was hoping that maybe it was just one of those unexplained things but iv been reading up on it and there seems to be a lot of ticked boxes, also something I just came across was chest pain and on several occasions over the years iv had this awful sudden pain in the chest area where breathing became so shallow and if I tried to take a deep breath it was like being flicked with an elastic band (that's the only way I can describe it) this is so scary when it happens and put this down to the cyst on my thoracic spinal cord as it's in the same area, also in the mornings I can't move at all it's like trying to move with a metal bar for a spine, I scream trying to get out of bed, this has gone on for years tho and just wandering why out the blue this year I end up with all the symptoms I mentioned previously (sausage fingers/swollen joints) do people get different symptoms at different times, sorry I'm just confused at the symptoms but then I guess that's why it's not so easy to diagnose.
Thank you hope I really appreciate your time💖I hope today is a good one for you 💞

😳 I am so sorry Caroline, this has to be a diagnosis and treatment error and I hope you find resolution soon. I understand your pain in many ways and I also pray ypthta the MRI WILL HELP GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS YOU NEED , you need recovery. Pain management and a doctor who care about you .
See online defination of psoriatic arthritis. That may help you . Maybe you should try Stellara or etanercept both bio drugs that help manage OA, PA and AK as well as many other joint , bone and muscles problems.
sometimes we have to be our own health advocates and learn about what is available to help us and for a good diagnosis.
i just reciently read a book , "How to Survive Your Doctor". Very eye opening and helped me get a better grip on handling appts. I now tape each appt with my I phone. Ask dr ahead of time. It is one way to keep them accountable. ???

Thank you Hope, I guess I'll find out soon enough what it is, I'm so scared it's arthritis but in a way I think at least Hopefuly there will be something out there other than opioids to help with the pain if that is what it is then on the other hand if they say they don't know what it is im back to square one trying to manage with the pain.
I hope today is a good one for you 💖

Hi Caroline,
my ?? Goes out to you. It's waiting for test results the not knowing that can be hard. I'm sure you will have results on what had caused you so much pain.
i think you are I so much pain have you thought about a pain port insert under the skin. I stay away from opioids for pain. Taken to much for pain over the years only take it on really bad days. They make me itch so badly. I want to crawl out of my skin. So it's a toss up 😃👐pain/ severe itching !

Iv never heard of a pain port but will look into it, I'm struggling today my back hurts so bad that even the skin hurts to touch if I try and massage the area and I'm so tired but trying to stay awake or I won't sleep tonight, its torture but just plodding on.
Iv tried most opioids but won't go back down that route as eventually they stop working anyway and the dose just keeps going up, anti inflamitories don't work anymore either, I feel like I'm going crazy at times, thank you Hope 😘
