We all suffer pain in our body's differently but yes I suffer chronic pain in my back / shoulders / neck and my knees / hips / feet so I struggle to walk have to use two sticks or my wheelchair  . Their are fibro / chronic pain groups out there . Please have a search for one near you . I go to two chronic pain support groups . It's  great to talk face to face with other chorion pain sufferers . Hope you can find a group to support you near by

Ian, yes, in my experience back pain is very much a part of fibromyalgia but the symptoms can come and go very quickly as though the pain is not always being experienced at the same level and at a reduced level of pain it is easier to get about with my crutches than at other times. I personally believe that there is some environmental factor at work here. It would be interesting to know how many other people notice any change, worsening or improving according to where they are.

i live in yorkshire moving from banbury in oxfordshire ,i cant say iv noticed any differance due to where i lived, but defently notice a big differance since i stopped going out everyday for a walk, certainly alot tighter and stiffer, which in turns causes pain.

i think its the hidden stresses that we dont even realise that cause us so much stress, and most of it comes thru the box on the wall , tv is so depressing , cancer adverts child and animal crulty ads we are bombared with them , if  your sensistive like myself they really upset me, then you got the dreadful programmes , news everyday about wars and death, i dont need to go on you get my drift,

then you have family to deal with and there problems is it any wonder will crumble and get ill, wheres the colour and nice things in life,

where are the the happy ads ,cadbury smash ,and the learn to swim ads, wheres the gentle comedy of george and mildred, and bless this house life is so materialistic and loud , its hard to find a quite place.

well its my theroy ,you proberly think i am totaly insane [to much monty python], but i truly believe life is to fast, we dont even grow our food properly we dont get the right nutrients from it like we used to dosent help either.

You sound like me Tina, I cant even watch the news cos I end up crying all night, what a dreadful world we have created, from one that really should be, and could be, so beautiful and peaceful!

My dream is to get out of this ratrace, live on a narrowboat and take life at my own pace, enjoying our beautiful countryside and never having to open mail! Back to basics would be just wonderful and I still intend to do it once my children are more independent and settled. They are 20 and 17 now so maybe not too long!

hold on to that dream ,although i think it might be a little longer than you think,my son is 24 and still at home, my daughter is 27 and has just moved into a council flat that has cost me a fortune ,as shes only part time she has just earns £100 /116  aweek , so iv had to buy no ends of stuff for her flat and stock her cupboards ,

and in a week i am buying her her first pr of glasses shes had in 8yrs . kids cant get full time work round here , and she gets no bennitits  except a bit of housing bennifit , so it s more stress on me and worry.

but hang on to your dream my friend sensiable girl had only one daughter she got married a couple of yrs back ,and my friend sold her house and brought a boat on the norfolk broads its not a narrow boat for got what she said it was, but she had a dream and it came true ,

so hold on to it plan for it make a csrape book on your good days all about what your going to do, it amazing how things like this can keep you going, and i think brings the dream to you.

      god bless keep dreaming

Yes I struggle walking too and have dreadful hip/pelvic pain that also means I cant sit for long at all. I usually end up lying down for the best part of the day on my bad days, which are most days at the moment. I had some prednisolone for a week and felt so much better but doc wont prescribe any more as it will cause diabetes and osteoporosis, so it seems I am expected to just suffer daily chronic pain, not able to work, get in debt etc! I have always been so careful with my finances too and never overspent etc, always made sure I paid bills, mortgage etc on time. Now all I am doing is worrying about how I will pay things, with not being able to work. Thankfully I have been awarded PIP but that certainly doesnt cover my bills, I am short by about £400 per month, so the stress this is causing is contributing to the pain of fibro! So fed up!

pain can appear anywhere ,with fm, but back pain should always be checked out.

for me, it sometimes is lower back and middle back or severe neck and shoulder pain; base of head pain; hip pain; severe elbow pain;foot pain,,,and like Brenda stated, it can'attack'  one or all sites or a mixture of them and different levels of pain; different days; i have been trying to figure it all out; i am thinking  my hip pain is probably from having both hips replaced 3 years agi and i get inflammation there; i don't know but the back pain can be so bad; i am thinking of going to a chiropractor to see if he can help; i am probably so out of alignment from the hip replacement surgeries but i get scared i will get in worse pain after seeing a chiropractor

a good chiropracter will take all your medical history thats why the first appointment is longer and sometimes more expensive, if he thinks he cant treat you he will say so

iv had a bad experiance with two chiropracters , and its put me of, but on the other hand iv had 3 chiropracters that really knew their stuff, and helped massivly,

always check that they are registered and insured, go on reconmadations,if you can.

and if at the first appointment you dont think they have listened or understood your problem on how fibro effects your health ,say thanks but no thanks and leave,

the best type of chiropracter is one called a Mac timoney they take their time work very gentley do the whole body not just the problem area ,so the body is aligned properly, and they finish with a massage.

mind you a good one is hard to find

,i had an excellant one in banbury he was absolutly wonderful , never ever hurt me, went to him after a bad experiance with a previous chiroprater,i was very nervous.  he knew who i meant and belived me , he had me walking with out a stick, moving freely i started twice a week, and got to once every 3 months he was brill.

but since moving to yorkshire iv not been able to find one to replace him and i have gone down hill .
