ive had pretty much every awful symptom you can think of! tried hrt in tablet form & patches & increasing the dose over a 7 month period, for me it made me feel really poisoned & ive been off it for 2 weeks now. the poisoned feeling has gone but today ive woke feeling really achy with buzzing legs and arms and feeling weak limbed. i think my anxiety is better without hrt and energy levels too also my nausea & appetite has increased, a lot women do really well on hrt i mean if you had heart trouble you would take medication wouldnt you! you have as much risk of cancer if you smoke, drink or are overweight dont believe all the scare stories ultimately its quality of life that counts x

the problem i have is alot of women may have too much estrogen in peri, i have fibroids and theyre usually an indicator of estrogen so why would i take something that is going to make that worse! just want a specialist opinion not a gp who offers me mini pill and hrt without knowing what we are dealing with x

im pretty sure this is what happened to me, i was adding even more hormones to my erratic hormones so was horrendous! i have heard that taking the pill can suppress your hormones but this is something ive never tried, im going to do a body reset for a few months & see whats what to he honest. it certainly is an absolute minefield which has totally floored me x

      toria,

There is proper tests. There is a right way for docs to test through blood and urine. The biggest hurdle for women is getting to a doc that understands this time in a woman's life. Most get very minimal education on peri and menopausal women and how to treat properly. That is why they will offer anti depressants to a woman that has never had depression problems when she's in menopause. They will hand out scripts for anxiety pills, sleeping pills etc, because they haven't been educated on it. Women really are on their own to educate themselves. My personal belief is you have to get to a doc that knows this stuff, has taken the training and knows what tests to run. They will look at the whole picture. That is why women have so many problems taking hrt. It really is sad because women shouldn't have to suffer so many years of their lives when the proper fix is out there.

i get sweats from behind my knees, elbows & chest at night its horrid. im in the uk & doctors here dont do blood tests because hormones during perimenopause fluctuate by the minute! you basically would need several blood tests all day long! my doctor goes by symptoms alone, i understand you can only get a bloodtest when your period stops to test for menopause (12months without a period) to be honest i feel so up & down ive had 3 good days this week but today feel achy & fluey doesnt seem any pattern which would make sense if our hormones are all over the place x

      toria,

Looks like you can't use names of companies here. I did lots of blood work, the most ever in my life. Then I took home a urine kit where I tracked my urine for 4 days at 4 different times a day. All tests being ordered by my doc. Tests were mailed in and results back in a couple weeks gave a complete picture of my hormones.

      toria,

No I'm in the states but my insurance does not cover any of it. Its all out of pocket. For me, its for my health and long term happiness and some way some how I will afford it to feel good.
