    Hi Toria,

I had blood tests done recently to test for hormones, there were 2 results, one for FSH/LH and one for 'Serum follicle stimulating hormone level', they showed that I was right at the top of the ranges for both which would explain why I feel so crappy.

Ive discussed HRT options with my gp last week but there was too much mention of an increase of cancer, (mentioned several times), to convince me it was a acceptable risk. I was on SSRI's for over 2 years and they did work brilliantly but I gained nearly 3 stone on them so came off them last Nov, I really struggled to get off them, took me 9 months of tapering and even then had horrendous side effects, its put me off ever taking them again. I also had a mirena coil for 5 years which was awful, I felt like I had constant PMT, didnt realise how bad I was until it was removed!

I am going to look into more natural treatments, I have started taking menopause vitamins, cant say they've had any effect as yet but only 6 weeks in. Ive read that acupuncture is supposed to be effective, something Ive never tried but will look into trying this once restrictions are lifted. There are lots of other more natural treatments and herbal remedies, its just about trying them and finding something that works, I know exercise and quality sleep help but thats easier said than done when you feel constantly stressed and fatigued 😦

hi sara, are you in the uk? im pretty sure i have high estrogen as i have fibroids and constant sore breasts, came off my period 2 days ago and feel worse than ever 😦 x

Yes, Im in the uk. I used to get awful sore breasts before my period but it would pass when I started my period, Ive not had them since I last had my last period several months ago. I used to have all the symptoms of high estrogen, Ive not had fibroids but did suffer terribly sore breasts and lots of fibrocystic lumps as well as mood swings and tiredness, I seem to have the opposite now. It seems that some of us are just very sensitive to hormones, I always wondered how women could do competitive sport as I would only ever have been any good for one week in the month!

hi ive been peri for years and managed my symptoms naturally and was determined not to go on hrt but recently ive been struggling to cope with new symptoms so my doctor gave me hrt patches 3 weeks ago, patches or gel are safer than tablet form apparently and the benefits outway the risks for me right now, i just want my life back 😔

hoping I'll start to see some improvement soon.

I don't blame you, I'd prefer to see a specialist but I'm not sure how easy that is to do, I've heard there's a waiting list if you go private but also I've heard the NHS have menopause specialists, do you know if your gp has to refer you for that?

im near cheshire uk and i got referred via gp, also having another scan but that is because i have fibroids and they arent sure where they are located because that was seen from another scan, already been waiting 6 weeks i think, and i think to see an nhs specialist you have to be referred via gp unfortunately, ive had so many blooming referrals its unreal, i was really really well 13 months ago 😦 x

It's horrible isn't it how it just hits you like that, one minute your fine and then the next you wonder what the hell happened! Hopefully you'll get seen soon, 6 weeks is a long time to wait 🤞 x
