Is Herpes connected to Fibro in some way?

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hello,

Hope this is not a sensitive subject, I suspect some people would not like to discuss if they have Herpes - I was one of them! But if you do your research it is a very common complaint, and linked to Fibro in many studies. This ia what I found out, and as all this Fibro thing happened around the same time I was diagnosed with Herpes, I wondered if any other people had both.

Take care Anne x

Not my case I don't believe, FM hit me in 1999 with an emotional trauma =

    fight/flight/fright scenerio.

The hypothalamus controls the F/F/F scenerio. I didn't have a bad case thinking back, and again maybe the grape seed ex worked better in my body as I was already on grape seed ex 4 yrs before the trauma.

Personally I don't think the herpes issue is my deal, I did deal with herpes 20 yrs or so earlier but took Lysine for many years to get it controlled.

B vitamins are important too, Inositol is a calming B vitamin.

      Hello Joy,

Thanks for your reply. Just thought it might be worth putting it out there. For me the diagnosis of Herpes happened when I was experiencing lots of strange symptoms.

      Hello,

Thanx for your reply. It seems this condition has many and varied starting points.

Herpes is a communicable virus. Fibromyalgia is a dysfunction within the nerves and/or muscles you can have a genetic predisposition to. And docs still argue about the exact cause.

Not a stupid question though. I have fibro but no virus of any kind. Sister has cold sores but no fibro. Hey, you never know. It was worth asking.

oh those cold sores, when I see this issue I think of my mother, when I got on grape seed extract I was 57, and my mom was 86 or so. She had a history of cold sores and when I found how great the grape seed ex was doing for me, I got my mom on it and in a short time her cold sores were history and her voice became so clear and strong. She lived to 91 but cold sore free at that point. She was a trooper and willing to "trying" anything I said "do it mom".

I notice when I talk to people and new people and they have weak voices, I KNOW they don't take grape seed extract.... talking to my friend today who is 87 and she's been on grape seed ex for maybe 5 yrs, she has a clear/strong voice and comments WISH she had been on it as long as me...

It acts as antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal....a very powerful antioxidant....

I have not had to buy a allergy/sinus med in 19 yrs, nor a cold remedy and never get the flu shots....I'm 76

And for me the FM is a muscle/nerve dsyfunction from an emotional trauma in 1999. I can still remember my body going into a concrete block trauma.

      Hello Joy,

I have started the Grape seed extract now, so hopefully it will help with the Herpes. Interestingly ( or not). I can't remember the last time i had a cold, or anything flu like.

Not a sensitive subject at all- more people should talk about it. I have both and they aggravate each other so I know how miserable it can be- I really feel for you. Doctors have told me there is no link but I disagree as it all happened about the same time and seem to trigger each other.

Also when they put me on vitamin D, not only did it help the fibro, but it helped the herpes massively. Again doctors disagreed and said my vitamin D then got too high and took me off it again.

I hope you find more answers than I have!

    Best wishes :-)

That is SO fascinating! I don't know anyone with both & know little about herpes. But you obviously pay attention to your body and are smart.

It may be that there is a trigger to some predisposed to fibro? (I was apparently predisposed, but it was triggered by physical trauma.) Finding natural ways to combat both is pretty brilliant.

I research connections to diagnoses seemingly unrelated all the time. If you find any type of connection, be it the virus affecting a specific neurochemical hormone that then triggers fibro. Wow. Plz let me know. I love to learn & help people.

      Hello Smiler,

Thanks so much for your reply. Very reassuring for me, it is something more should talk about, and it might be something that people don't realise they have. I have also been tested for Vit D recently, no results yet.

Dang you guys. Now I'm going to have research this. Lol. Very curious mind. I don't do well with unanswered questions.

If I can find this thread after I do, I'll let you know what I find.

Fibromyalgia seems to be a predisposition in some people. Meaning, a trigger is all you need. Other people don't have the genetic tendency.

Fibro can be triggered by a viral infection or some kind of immune dysregulation. So the herpes virus can, in fact, trigger fibro.

      Hello Fiona,

Thanks for your reply. It is reassuring to know I am not the only  one! The Herpes does not trouble me greatly, just another irritation in all the other greater problems I suffer. Wether there is a link who knows?

But I will continue to do my research and see what comes up.

      Take care, Anne
