is it likely you can take Vagifem for 20 years??

Saw my menopause consultant yesterday. Have come to the conclusion that I know more than she does, thanks to this site and the internet.
She confirmed that I know have VA for the rest of my life but not to worry I can use the Vagifem indefinitely. Now seriously how likely is that? I am 60 and say I get to 80 or more I think it is very unlikely that I will be able to take this for 20 or more years.
When I said this she just went mmmm see what you mean and changed the subject. She had no further ideas or new medicines or anything else and hadn't even heard of the KEY E suppositories which for me are a God send.
I think she was sent on a one day seminar. So disappointing as I was hoping to get answers.

The vit e suppositories Key E I get off the internet - they are so much cheaper in the USA than Britain but you then have to pay duty. I find them very good and use one most nights then coconut oil in the day if needed.
This chatroom is really helpful

It's disheartening and disappointing to think this is all they can offer. Lots of therapeutic treatments help but none I've heard match hrt but I guess it depends on the individual.
I'd be interested to hear myself from someone who knows different.

As I understand it AV progresses more with some than others. I assume it's a matter of how much estrogen your body is producing on it's own. There are some supplements and dietary suggestions that mimic estrogen in the body. Women who drink coffee supposedly have more estrogen (whatever that means). But I don't think there's a way to get the body to produce more of it, so it's a matter of doing whatever it takes (mainly lotions and potions) to be pain & discomfort free. Personally I'm banking on the Mona Lisa treatment if the AV gets too bad and will try to keep enough in savings to be able to have the treatment.

In the past before the op I had mild AV and used Vagifem successfully enough to come off them. But as you say if you don't stabilise then no doubt you would have to have further treatment.
The Mona Lisa treatment sounds great it would be good to hear first hand the outcome. I hope it works for you hopefully the price will reduce if more women had it done. Unfortunately due to my keloid ( over healing) the scaring may cause other problems.
