Good question that occurred to me too. I would think to use the Clobetasol by itself at night and then cleanse area and use the oil or Aquaphor ointment ( I recommend) during the day. It is available at WalMart.

By the way the Clobetasol ointment is easier than cream to use cause you don't have to rub it in.

    Good Luck!

What are the ingredients in Aquaphor?  So far coconut oil is my best choice as well as clobetasol of course. Is the clob. ointment thicker than the cream?  My gyno doesn't favour ointment unfortunately.  I also use Hannys suggestion re baking soda.  Posts about Borax are interesting but so far I am afraid to try it.  Seems it would be harsher.  It would be helpful if those using Borax would update us on their progress.

i have not yet found any product to use instead of soap for washing, have you?

Hi Helen, I use epiderm cream to wash with..you can buy either ointment or cream in large tubs with pumps.. ideal for shower..It's mild and acts as a moisturiser also..

Hope that helps - Jo x

Hi, I'm another borax user, and am unfusung slowly but surely. I last used steroid in february, and my specialist said I was stable at my last checkup. I never see the same one twice so don't know how he could make an assessement anyway - but he said I'm looking good. I didn't tell him what I'm using, my last doctor wasn't too happy with me going 'off piste' but didn't have anything constructive to offer either. I was nervous about using Borax too, and took a while to get around to it. I understand your nervousness, but what other options do we have? and it's worked for so many of us. Make sure it's Borax not Boric Acid. I started using it twice a day, then once. What suits me is every other day in the morning with homeopathic borax on the alternate days. I didn't get on with baking soda, it dried me out, but borax is fine.

Epaderm is good for washing. I'm in the UK, don't know if it's available elsewhere. Google it?

      Good luck.

I got mine in the US when I visited in summer and I know you can buy it in the Middle East too. The box is a kilo box and based on how much I use it will last me years! I don't think it's on sale in U.K. So you may need to get in from Amazon US or on eBay. Have a read of the thread titled "An experiment with borax" as the ladies on there may be able to direct you.

Did your gynecologist give you a reason why they prefer the cream? I had a gyne say cream was better because it absorbed better. I told him "No it doesn't. It's not really cream, it's more the consistency of a Zincofax" (thick, zinc cream for diaper rash). He was very surprised and prescribed me the ointment.

Ask for the ointment again. I pressed on because so many on this forum said it was better, and I agree with them.

Helen, I have gone a little further with the use of Borax. And this far all is positive.  Talked it over with my doctor even.  He told me that Borax was used a lot in the medical world years ago.  Imagine.

What I do at present - I use 1/6 of a cup in my bath.  I use three small pinches of borax (shake well to help dissolve)  in my Perin bottle for after every bathroom visit.  The effect is about the same as baking soda.  It actually is a deep cleanser and this far has improved my skin and its flexibility.  During the day I now no longer have to use coconut oil, which makes life a bit easier.  During the night I still use my baking soda plus coconut oil combination.

      So far so good.

Hi, please tell me how you are using the Borax? I am new, just diagnosed 6 weeks ago, and just also realised I have been fusing! Do I just sit in a tub and soak or am I supposed to be "working" to unfuse? I have no idea what to do and am freaking out! I have received so much help so far but am feeling stupid and ignorant at this moment! This fusion has happened so quickly, how long to reverse? Any ideas and comments on what to do are very appreciated! I am using Clobetasol daily at this point and Vitamin E, also rinsing after each bathroom visit.
