Is it possible for an 18 year old to have prostate cancer?

I'm 18 years old and I'm very worried that I may have cancer of the prostate. I'm new here and am hoping to find some answers. Here are a couple of different symptoms that I have experienced.

- I urinate quite frequently, about once every 2 hours. My urine is almost always very light yellow or clear. I have had 3 urinalysis's done. One came back with very little protein in the urine, the other two were completely negative.

-Sometimes my stream is slow to start. Almost like I have to wait for it to build up before it comes out. I sometimes have to wait 4-10 seconds for it to come out. but once it gets going it's a good stream. (I heard that if you urinate frequently sometimes a slow start to urinating is because of you peeing often.) But im not sure. I have no issues stopping it and starting again. It's consistent and doesn't start and stop. This only ever happens when I have to urinate and it's a very small urge but I still go so I can be comfortable. When I have a strong urge and there's a decent amount of urine in my bladder, it is quick to start and there's no problems.

- At the end of urinating I drip a little bit but I've had that forever. I sometimes leak a tiny tiny bit when I'm sitting or laying down but it's never anything I can feel so maybe it's in my head?

- Sometimes in my upper back I have a very mild burning type of pain. I have read that metastic prostate cancer spreads to your spinal cord usually.

I have no symptoms other then this. I do take vitamin d supplements, zinc supplements, and ecitlopram for anxiety even though I don't feel I have it. I tend to freak out over little things like this. Going to see my GP on Thursday.

I'm very young to have a cancer of the prostate... but I'm just wondering what else it could be. No infection which is what EVERYONE is saying it is, so what else could it be?

Thanks guys. smile

Look at your own words, my brother:  " I tend to freak out over little things like this."  Not quite sure it's a "little thing," but by your own admission, you're "freaking out."  Odds are probably a million to one that you have PCa.  That's not to say you should ignore whatever it is that's going on.  By all means, get everything checked out.  In the interim, however, try giving everything a rest, if you know what I mean.  Can't hurt.  Your GP will enlighten you.  Finally, I can tell you that I, myself, am a hardcore hypochondriac.  If I get a headache, I think it's a brain tumor.  This disorder does have one small silver lining.  It allows me to be hypervigilant where matters of health are concerned.  The anxiety it causes, on the other hand, is a burdern. What about you?  Could you also be a slight hypochondriac?  I ask respectfully.

Hey, yes I would classify myself as one for sure. I tend to think a lot of this is in my head.

Also Alan I haven't been diagnosed with being a hypochondriac per se, but my doctor does think I have slight healthy anxiety when it comes to little things. The worst part of it all is it seems when you focus on having one particular disease, because of the anxiety you begin to actually feel like you're having symptoms of the disease which aren't really there....

I find sometimes I don't even have the symptoms mentioned above when I am not thinking about it.

Cam my young friend.  I think you are fine but to make sure go to the Urologist and get checked.  Like Jim  I think you have a touch of Prostatitis which you can get at any age.  Please let us know what is up.  We are here for you.  Older men should help the young.  Take care Ken

      Hello Buddy

My young friend I do not think you have prostate cancer.

But you may have a infection. They can last for a while if you don't treat them right. It can also have something to do with your diet. Do you eat a lot of salt.

You may also have Prostatitis. You can get that at any age. What you need to do is go see a urologist. I know you are only 18 but you don't want this to go on and on. He can help you.

Take care of your self when your young. Your going to need that in later life.

      Take care......Ken

Ken - considering these young fellows are likely rather sexually active, either over masturbating or too much sex, it probably explains a lot of what they are going thru - "FreeWilly" and let him relax for a few weeks!

Also, some of their symptoms sound a lot like UTI's and/or urethritis, which both of those can actually come from over masturbating, namely masturbating with anything 'unclean' can cause bacteria to get into the urethra. I'd bet these are likely the causes of these young guy's issues.
