Is nausea/vomiting part of going through the menopause?

Posted , 24 users are following.

For the past 6 months or so, two weeks before my period, I've been having terrible bouts of nausea/sickness for 2-3 days.   Although I'm still having regular periods, they have been much shorter and much heavier the past year or so, and I've been decidedly 'off kilter', I've no doubt that at 49 I'm starting the menopause.  Has anyone else had bouts of sickness/nausea?

Hi Witchy biggrin, No, I don't believe so. Perhaps it's something you should check out of menopause frame. It's true that menopause makes any fragility, physical or emotional come out though...I would meke a record of symptoms... it's easier to explain yourself when you go to the doctor. Ladies here are very knowledgeable and keen on suppoting you. Stick around.  Take care.

    Hi

I dont actually vomit but have periods of debilitating nausea in perimenopause. Had two gastroscopys ( camera down the throat because of it. It horrid but I do believe its quite common in perimenopause.

I have bouts of nausea.  I think it has to do with hormones and anxiety as a result of all of these changes that I was unprepared for.  Ginger capsules help.

Yes I agree with you laura. Sometimes the many symptoms can be so overwhelming. X

Hi Michelle,  Sure is overwhelming.  I have been a recluse lately as a result but need to force myself to socialise because being around friends helps me take my mind of things so that I calm down a bit.  The anxiety definitely exacerbates the nausea.  I hope you're travelling okay with all x

Yes I too have had tons of anxiety and depression in perimenopause. Been suffering 8 years im now 48.

Ive had every symptom there is to have.

The social anxiety has made me withdraw from social events.

The nausea is awful when I do get bouts of it along with the bloating.

This site helps me realise im not losing my mind although it does feel that way at times.

I am 48 too but these symptoms of anxiety, bloat, shooting pain, nausea and gut issues hit me all of a sudden. I feel for you having endured these symptoms for 8 years. Looking back I can see I had some mild symptoms but nothing compared to now. If it wasn't for sites like this I would still be none the wiser. Am glad I found it.

Yes. I get so nauseated and now since becoming peri I have a very weak stomach. So weak that the other day I saw a guy spitting on the sidewalk and I almost puked. I was never like this before peri. Every now and then when I am pmsing I have to run to the bathroom and vomit and then I feel better.

      Hi Kathleen;

I am glad I seen your post. Most of these gals are in peri. I am post menopausal (JUST). As of December it will be 12 months, no period.

Though I said through this but menopause had other things in mind (or I hope that is all it is and not cancer or anything else).

Have you been nauseated in MENOPAUSE (not speaking of peri)? It was like every 3 month starting last December and now it's like all the damn time! I have a few good days here and there but I never get too excited.

All labs were perfect, my CA-125 was a 6. I don't have any back pain or other bad symptoms accept an occasional blurp/pain in my upper right stomach (under my rib) and some right shoulder pain.

Just looking for answers as you THINK this is just hormones but with every new ache I am convinces I am dying of cancer and it's AWFUL!

Thank you for posting this question. I figured it was peri symptoms to have hormones going crazy like pregnancy and vomiting. It is just miserable to feel this way. I have some Essential Oils I am gonna try to help with this issue.

Yes I'm Peri menopausal & keep vomiting at certain times ... I'm vomiting since 4 months now ... Doctors cannot diagnose what the vomiting is due to... Take care .. hope you feel better soon...

I have been feeling nauseated for weeks now. I thought it was allergy meds, or antibiotics, or skipping a meal.  But i's getting worse, even at night.

I stopped taking BC pills Nov 23rd, was on nonstop for 20 yrs, no periods.  But got off because I am 51 and Dr wants to test for menopause with blood work and wants the pill out of my system for at least 6 weeks prior.

I'm crying at tv commercials, over reacting, sad, tired, cannot sleep, having hot flashes in this cold weather even, and can't stop being nauseated!!

Dr appt tomorrow !~ getting back on pill if I am not in menopause, if I'm in peri, or full blown. Dr wants me on the pill until menopause is over completely, says much safer hormone replacement for me.

I've never smoked, don't drink and do exercise, not obese.

I cannot wait to get this blood work done and get back on the bc pill !!!!  This sucks
