Is this Balanitis? I'm 21, had it most of my whole life, no treatment has worked

Hello, I've seen a doctor many times about a mild condition I have on my penis glans, have been prescribed 3 different creams including Betnovate and a Hydrocortisone, a course of antibiotics and a swab which said I was clear and still the condition remains. I used to have a tight foreskin up until last year which is now sorted from stretching, and I think the condition began during my teenage years when I wasn't able to wash the glans. It often feels dry and can sometmes feel slightly painful when the foreskin retracts, almost like its rubbing and the sensitivity everywhere is quite high still, not sure if this is due to the condition. The urethra opening is always red and inflamed and red areas appear frequently around the glans itself. Any advise on what I should do would be much appreciated, have attached a photo too. Many thanks!

    hey guys

so, the professor was a down to earth guy, and genuinly seemed to want to help. Overall, I dont think he could provide a prognosis based on this one appointment

he understood that I would not be able to keep paying, so he is going to get me to re visit him on the NHS rather than private, which is great because it means he can take on this case and see me multiple times this year

now, for this appointment he didnt have a major opinion, I think he just wants to rule some things out. So he sent me away with a new antibiotic I have not previously tried, a new cream, and some generic anti histamines. Whilst this may not be the cure, this is all information for this guy moving forward, to help him to ultimately determine what is wrong

It is good news, but also not a cure

I can post the type of medication he gave if anyone is interested

if any of the medications have an impact on it, I would like to know.

yes if you could share the medications please.

im returning to doctors soon so any information would be valuable. thanks

just checking in.... i seen a new doctor yesterday, he honestly did not know what it could be, urine and blood are clean, he said he was also seeing another patient that has almost all the same symptoms he has been seeing for a few year, he threw everything he had at it but nothing resolved it, he referred him to some doctors at the Mayo clinic.... if u are not familiar with it, look it up. he did say that he could do some kind of trigger point release , i forgot what he called it, they go in thru the anus . he said he has only done a few of them in his day, but it fixed the issues the patients were having, he stated their symptoms were somewhat simular to mine but not exactly like mine.... keep in touch guys

after looking around different threads and forums for months i have noticed the a couple of people have had a biopsy and mentioned it came back with 'lichen planus'.

one guy from iran who has commented on a few threads stating we all have this and we all ignored him, i have just found an old thread where a guy had our symptoms and applied some cream and the skin reacted bad to the cream which then caused the lichen planus to flare up really bad which then a sample was taken and this was confirmed was affecting his penis/skin.

going to look more into this but out of everything this has convinced me the most!

Hey all! I think i found a solution! ive been to one of the best urologists in California and she said that my pelvic muscles are extremely tight. this is caused by stress (which i assume you have a lot of). i am going to a pelvic cyropractor and physical therapist. try stretching your pelvic muscles, DO YOGA and meditate. not joking. pelvic muscle exercises will greatly reduce penis pain. she said she has seen TONS of men with our exact symptoms (tip of penis pain) and this has helped every single one of them! Also, stress DOES play a MASSIVE role in this. she said her patients were in a cycle of stress which caused even more pain. please look into this as its helping me already!

let us know how this goes for you. which stretches and exercises did she recommend.

That looks very similar to what I have... my whole life i have never had any problems in that area... about 8-9 months ago I contracted gonorrhea went in got tested treated and everything cleared up... About 1 month later I get something that looks like that and im surprised as Ive been wearing condoms and was only with the same new partner who didnt have anything she got tested to... So ya been to walk in clinics my own doctor finally seen a urologist and urine cultures and tests always come up negative and the urologist says oh it will just go away on its own... Like wtf are these doctors basing that off of like i cant masturbate cuz it hurts way to much cant have sex cuz it hurts to much my "Meatus is swollen and painful all the time and there is even bumps inside my urethra that hurt alot too" I even sometimes randomly on some days the urge to urinate all the time like literally every 15 mins i have to take a p**s... I get that these urine tests arent showing up but like I literally had to quit my job because i have to wear coveralls that no matter what size i wear they rub on my "Meatus" to the point its just so inflamed and unbearable like i havent had sex or masturbated in like 8 months some nights I barely can sleep cuz i have to urinate so frequently and some days I have to pee every 30 minutes like how a doctor can know all this and just tell me "Oh it will just go away on its own, should clear up in the next few months" LIKE WTF IS THAT, this has literally ruined the quality of my life basicly cost me a job I like and destroyed my sex life and confidence in general and they refuse to do anything

definitely sharing your frustration with this thing. im noticing it always feels worse when the meatus is rubbed against throughout the day and thats why I don't even notice it in the morning. The penis glan seems to be the issue and the solution doesn't seem to have been found yet.

I can only think that a trauma or infection causes hypersensitivity to the glan and won't resolve on its own.

I'm 6 months in and the only visible thing is some slight redness around the urethral opening of the penis tip but not enough that the urologist thinks its abnormal (I've had the same penis for over 30 years, id know if its abnormal).

Yes it is frustrating. Just in the fact that i still havent received a diagnosis of any kind after having 4 doctors examine it including a Urologist and a doctor specializing in health for sexual organs... to make it more frustrating having the urologist not give a diagnosis and still just say it will clear up on its own but might take up to 6 months... 6 months like ive already been dealing with it for 8 months. Im at my wits end with this problem im having not sure if its Balanitis per say. Just to reiterate I have red bumps and inflamation of my glands but there is especially alot of swelling of my "Meatus"... with me the bumps and inflamation also extend into my urethra for like a 1/4 of an inch which causes me constant pain and discomfort every day and oddly some days just a constant need to urinate like every 15 minutes, And ive had my whole urinary tract ultrasounded and even had a cystoscopy and there is no problems other than at the end of my urethra and extending to my Meatus and penile glands.

Basicly has anyone else had similar problems to me of the inflamation extending past the Meatus and actually into their urethra?

my urologist scheduled a cystoscopy for me 4 weeks from now. im nervous about it because im not sure how much it will help

I was thinking about cystoscopy too.. so what did they tell you? you have perfectly fine urethrea? it is obvious that redness is coming out of urethrea. so from inside of penis... so its really weird they didnt find anything.
