Is this Balanitis? I'm 21, had it most of my whole life, no treatment has worked

Hello, I've seen a doctor many times about a mild condition I have on my penis glans, have been prescribed 3 different creams including Betnovate and a Hydrocortisone, a course of antibiotics and a swab which said I was clear and still the condition remains. I used to have a tight foreskin up until last year which is now sorted from stretching, and I think the condition began during my teenage years when I wasn't able to wash the glans. It often feels dry and can sometmes feel slightly painful when the foreskin retracts, almost like its rubbing and the sensitivity everywhere is quite high still, not sure if this is due to the condition. The urethra opening is always red and inflamed and red areas appear frequently around the glans itself. Any advise on what I should do would be much appreciated, have attached a photo too. Many thanks!

    Hello Verstarix,

are you still observing your thread? Unfortunately, I believe, from page 11-12 we have mixed ppl here with different problems, different symptoms. Don't you think? I putted some effort into this thread but all seems gone for now. How is you with your problem? I'd like to speak to someone who has similar symptoms as I do. I have presented photos on around page 8.

My is advice is for you all to seek advice re blood and poor circulation. It might require seeing a vascular consultant/surgeon. I think urologist are limited to what they can do and this likely falls out of their scope.

Dryness, skin irritation, pain, and coldness/numbness are all factors of vascular disease.

As per my previous posts, I've been through 3 urologists, 1 dermatovenerologist, currently with allergologist. And since I believe the problem comes out of urethrea and urethrea opening, I started whole process over again with 4th Urologist! Took my blood, semen and swabs. Blood is already analyzed and seems fine. Unfortunately no clue so far.

The inside of the top of the ueuthera looks inflamed but doesnt hurt when i wee anymore... everything calmed down when i self medicated with trimethorprim because i felt i had a complicated UTI.

when they put a camera down there was nothing to look at it all looked healthy.

no longer burns for me i just seem to be left with skin condition on the glands and my uruthera still looks inflamed and my meatius looks bigger which is also alot more sensative.

Same condition as you. I was on roaccutane when i was 15/16 which is an acne medication which dries everywhere out. I was having regular unprotected sex with my gf at the time and noticed one day that the tip of my penis was swollen. It often gets dry and i have to apply a lot of moisturiser which helps with the colouration but not the swelling. However it hasnt stopped me having sex or ahything but definitely gets irritated by it but not painful. Do you find it is similar?

I'm sorry to jump into your conversation guys. Phoenix123 if you read my posts in this thread you will find out I was also taking Roaccutane. One of many side-effect of this drug is it dries up the mucous. Not just on glans, but could be also dry nose and other. It basically imbalances your natural bacteria environment, killing one type, drying up which allows overpopulation of other natural bacteria. This dryness along with over-population of natural bacterias (which we all naturally have in reasonable amounts) is causing imbalance in glans environment (dryness, etc) and this is causing redness and inflamation, causing swollen skin around the tip of penis. I'm trying to resolve this issue for couple of years, you can find my history in this thread.

I've been following this thread for a long time now... and I've started seeing people with mixed symptoms and problems. Some have pain, some have none. Some say it's vascular, some say trauma, some say since birth.

The only difference between me and OP is that his is from birth, and mine is caused by a traumatic experience, where too much friction was applied during a short period of time, rendering my penis in dryness, discoloration exact like OPs, tackiness when pulling the foreskin back, and unenjoyable masturbation/sex/orgasms. All in all, my quality of life has drastically worsened exactly 2 years ago following that moment, and continues on.

So please, if you don't have such problems, do try to find a different thread because there are plenty, and at this point even though we're all trying to find a solution, we're just littering this thread with every scope of penis issues. I have been to two urologists, so far no results. For my hypersensitivity I have been prescribed a cream that reduces feeling, dampens it, and is just a temporary solution. I have yet to visit a dermatologist, which is my last hope, but I'll have to postpone this until I can come out of self-isolation, and this whole coronavirus thing passes, which might be a long long time.... so we're in a pickle atm.

Finally someone said it except me. Since page like 10, there is big influx of guys posting one thing over another, rendering this thread diverging from original course. In regard to your symptoms, dont expect too much from dermatologist. I've been though 3 urologist, dermatologist, and currently I'm running allergologist parallel to 4th urologist.

Other alternative I'm starting to look for is what's being described here in this thread as: " pelvic floor muscle relax exercises". With so many drugs, creams, and diets I took in last 4 years. I'm ready to explore the option it's not the bacteria/chemical cause of the symptoms rather psychoneuromuscular cause.

hello all. making another post because i want to let you know my penis pain is almost gone!!!ask urologist if he/she can prescribe a small dosage of diazepam 5mg pills to take as SUPOSITORY( up the bum) that relaxes your pelvic floor muscles and helps start the process of stress reduction and muscle relaxing. I took it for 5 days while i relaxed and did my exercises to relax the muscles. my urologist was right. when you stress, your body automatically tightens those muscles and it can be very hard to relax them. i have a appointment with my new physical therapist for my pelvic floor muscles. please please look up " pelvic floor muscle relax exercises" it has helped TREMENDOUSLY. i really hope this helps you all as much as it helped me.

im glad youre feeling better but can you please describe all of your symptoms? just to see if we had the same

Where was your pain located precisely? Also, was your pain constant, or would it only appear when you'd touch it?

Im interested too... My 4th urologist mentioned something similar. Like there could be pelvic muscles causing this... Would you please describe your symptoms, photo if possible? I'm personally not feeling any pain except deep-night pains near my rectum occasionally. In such cases I really need to take a breath and calm down sitting on toilet. Just relax my bottom muscles to have it go away and than I can go back to sleep.

did this end up solving your issues entirely?

One of my urologists also came to same diagnosis. A tightened pelvic floor muscle that was causing nerve issues and emminating pain. To be honest I thought the urologist was kind of out to lunch on this diagnosis, so for the most part i ignored it. He even referred me to a pelvic reflexologist. After reading this I am going to follow up on this after the world gets out of this pandemic. Meanwhile, if anyone has pursued this route, please share what kind of stretches and excercises you are doing. Thanks.

Just for reference: Symptoms; pain at tip of penis below urethra opening, redness, swelling, reduced urination velocity, slightly enlarged prostate, epididimal swelling, slight wrinkled appearance of glans, sometimes lower abdominal pain.
