Is this Balanitis? I'm 21, had it most of my whole life, no treatment has worked

Hello, I've seen a doctor many times about a mild condition I have on my penis glans, have been prescribed 3 different creams including Betnovate and a Hydrocortisone, a course of antibiotics and a swab which said I was clear and still the condition remains. I used to have a tight foreskin up until last year which is now sorted from stretching, and I think the condition began during my teenage years when I wasn't able to wash the glans. It often feels dry and can sometmes feel slightly painful when the foreskin retracts, almost like its rubbing and the sensitivity everywhere is quite high still, not sure if this is due to the condition. The urethra opening is always red and inflamed and red areas appear frequently around the glans itself. Any advise on what I should do would be much appreciated, have attached a photo too. Many thanks!

For guys living in the UK, there was once a doctor who studied our case called Atef Markos at Stafford Hospital.

I have no other details because I live in Brazil, but I would definitely give it a try if I were you.

mines the exact same. its a bit more flat but after ejaculation mine puffs up the same. been to urologist and doctors and they said it was fine as well, probably because they have no idea whats causing it. urine only comes out of the top and dribbles out of the bottom but nothing comes out in the middle as its like swollen.

The photo i posted is sort of an average state. Sometimes it looks a little better. Very rarely it can get much worse to that cartoonish puffiness, but it has happened before. I remember my father got some cream for it, but i was so young that i can not remember what it was. Either way this cream did nothing to fix it.

and mine will look like you said, 'a little flatter' when it's in its most normal looking state.

At this point in my life it doesn't really give me any problems. I'm just worried if i get a girlfriend she will think it's an std or something.

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to ask what "relief" people are finding, whilst we all keep searching for a "cure"!

Mine has flared up again; it's keeping me awake and on my mind all the time.

I have recently found relief for the dryness I had associated with it, but there is that constant throbbing pain at the tip of the penis which drives me nuts when it flares up.

Anyone had success with temporary relief for these occasions?

    Thank you in advance!

see i dont have any pain besides after or during urination. try coconut oil or pure alovera gel. stay hydrated and avoid sugars/excess carbs.

I remember when i was young i'd have a little burning when i was urinating. But i it never became an issue. Now i have essentially no discomfort at all from this besides dry friction. Although actually because it sticks out it's easier for something to come into contact within the inside of my actual urethra, which does seem like a slightly significant issue.

My suggestion is to give it time as after about 14 months mine is at a stage that i have no burning or pain sessation anymore while and after urinating . It also flaired up on and off over this period. The advice give by others to treat the symptoms is good. But you body needs to deal with the healing.

Try "dream cream" from the UK store "lush" this has given me the most relief. I think is based on coconut oil. use it thinly.

i have had this 18months and it has got better, but i do get flare ups. i can live with it at the moment, but its still slightly uncomfortable when I urinate. drink plenty of water that seems to also help.

I have this about 3 years now. I think it's caused by some bacterial infection because it affects the tip of my penis most, especially after I ejaculate. If I leave it alone for a week or two, it kinda dies down and is barely visible. So it leads me to believe the infection comes from inside the penis. The only parts that get red on my penis are the parts that cum hits when jerking off (sorry to be so forward). So from the tip down the center, but the sides of the head are perfectly normal and its no coincidence those are the parts of the head cum never touches when jerking off.

For me, there's no irritation to it. It's just a bit dry really. Also if I kinda stretch out the head of my penis, it immediately becomes wrinkly and red for like a minute or two.

I'm going to get a semen culture done as advised as see what it picks up. I've also noticed my erections and libido are very weak. Unsure if related.

Will update when done, will take a few weeks as can't afford it right now.

It sounds like you have very similar symptoms as me. I had a seaman culture done following a prostate massage procedure, this was done by a specialist who uses a specialist lab to test for additional bacteria not done in routine tests.

The result was negative for all bacteria.

by all means try yourself, your condition might be different to mine. Just don't get your hopes up.

The more I research this, the more i think it's some kind of auto immune illness.
