Is this Balanitis? I'm 21, had it most of my whole life, no treatment has worked

Hello, I've seen a doctor many times about a mild condition I have on my penis glans, have been prescribed 3 different creams including Betnovate and a Hydrocortisone, a course of antibiotics and a swab which said I was clear and still the condition remains. I used to have a tight foreskin up until last year which is now sorted from stretching, and I think the condition began during my teenage years when I wasn't able to wash the glans. It often feels dry and can sometmes feel slightly painful when the foreskin retracts, almost like its rubbing and the sensitivity everywhere is quite high still, not sure if this is due to the condition. The urethra opening is always red and inflamed and red areas appear frequently around the glans itself. Any advise on what I should do would be much appreciated, have attached a photo too. Many thanks!

    POTENTIAL SUCCESS STORY

i follow another thread which is basically the same as this one and a guy with the same symptoms as us finally there is a success story.

"yes i had the same problem for 3 years. Also hurt when I sat down on prostate area. my meatus would stock together all the time like super glue. ejaculation made it way worse. I been tested tons of times never had anything come back positve. I was on tons of different meds. I was prescribed bactrium 160mg qty 42. I didn't start to feel better until almost the end of the meds. I honestly cant believe it worked considering everything else I tried. the part of my meatus that was always inflamed, looks like scar tissue now. it's been over 3 months and I haven't had an issue. I'm still stunned after all these years and being in constant pain that its over now. worse experince ever. i hope this helps. not 1 doctor knew what was wrong or what i had. good luck. (I believe being on the antibiotic for an extended amount of time is what helped)."

then he goes on to say he believes its a prostate related issue.

    hello guys,

I have the same problem and as i am allergic i am sure it is related to allergic reaction.I have been to 2 dermatologists and 1 urologist and all said that was nothing wrong with me.But i felt some pain when uritating and having sex.I tried several oral antibiotics and cortisone fungal cremes, under doctors advise but nothing worked in the longrun(with one exception)...also i forgot to mention that all my tests came up normal...

So after 1 year i decided i had to act by myself.I observed a lot the situation and i came up with these conclusion:it mostly seems to be a skin condition like an eczema or atopic dermatitis that gets flair ups whenever your istamine gets high or you pee, have sex etc....the solution that worked for me is first (if you are allergic) to find the allergen that causes a reaction anywhere in your body and get it out of your daily routine....for me was a beard dye as i used to dye my beard.Second:Always clean up your penus after you pee and have sex with a neutral soap suitable for allergic people...third:the only cream that helped me was kenacomb cream....i used it in the past sometimes for allergic skin reaction and after anything else failed thought why not giving it a try??and it helped a lot...then i was sure that this is an allergy related thing....i hope this will work for some of you at least....but if you know you are allergic it worths giving it a try.Sorry for my bad english as i am not a native speaker...

after a year with this problem,3 doctors saying its nothing and several examinations now i am without pain and redness in the meatus for almost 2 months.....the thing that did the trick for me was washing 2 times every day with non allergic neutral shampoo and for the first week i used kenacomb cream day and night...i hope these can help someone

embarassing bodies had a guy go on with our symptoms. As usual they couldn't see anything wrong. End result was they prescribed him pollen extract and he said when he flared up he would take it and it got rid of his symptoms

was that recent? the urologist I saw is normally the same one they bring in as the expert on Embarassing Bodies.

    • Edited

yes me too, they say the usual stuff like there is no proven benefit but they say that about most natural remedies

do you know what form it is taken in? from what I've found it's like a food supplement

      rye pollen I believe

i rang a Doctor and whilst on the phone I got her to look that exact one up, she said it was more to do with increased fertility but said not to worry about trying stuff as it most likely wont have any negative affects on your health even without being diagnosed with prostatitis, thats why I rang her to ask

is that the one called Prostace?

i might give it a go myself, cant harm can it

    • Posted

yeah thats the one some good reviews on Amazon mostly about peeing problems (which isn't one of my symptoms) but if we do have a prostate problem then it's worth a shot.

    • Posted

yeah i dont have peeing problems either, glans pain redness is my most common symptom.

ill order some now, worth a bash i suppose

      cheers dude
