Your symptoms don't sound like bv. I suffered constant bv for almost 2 years. I was in a stressful relationship. Have you gotten swabbed by the doctors so they can examine under the microscope? I never had those symptoms. You know you have bv when your discharge is so strong smelling and the smell will smell like fish.

abbie84900, I hate that you are going through this, but I'm so glad to hear someone is having the same symptoms as me. I've had this for 10 months now and it's driving me crazy. I've been prescribed metro gel several times now but it doesn't seem to do much at all. I've been concerned about PID from the BV, but my doctors do not seem to consider that a viable possibility. I'm desperate for a solution. This is highly affecting my life. So far, I've tried prescription medication, taking probiotics, hydrogen peroxide, and acidophilus. The probiotics seem to help the most but nothing even close to normal.

which i don't understand why he doesn't think it is possible for me to have pid because i have all of the symptoms of it ,and i have read on other sites that some people have pid without showing symtoms at all or minor symtoms of it. i really wish this would get resolved i would love to have a normal life again it is affecting my life tromendously as well i cannot work or do anything not even have a normal relationship with my boyfriend. althought he has been extremely supportive throughout this whole thing with me. i am curious on the testings your doctor has done and what your doctor is doing for you so far as you did sayy you've been going through this for 10 months i could not imagine

I am 27 and have not had an IUD, but all of this started when I stopped birth control pill. I also had issues with bacterial vaginosis when I was pregnant with my son 3 years ago. He ended up being born with an infection and having to go to the NICU (thank God he was okay after a week). I, like you, have never had an STI or STD, so I think they dismiss the idea of PID. When they did a physical exam, they told me because I'm not in extreme pain upon physical examination, that it's not PID. I even had them run another blood panel hoping it would show them a more severe infection. The only thing they prescribe is the metronidazole gel over and over. Yesterday I ordered a natural boric acid suppository. I will let you know if I have any benefits from it. Hoping we both find an answer soon!

Abbie, Did your doctor check you for herpes? Especially when you had that outbreak? I do not have genital herpes, but I've always had issues with ulcers in my mouth. During this bout with BV, my tongue has a lot of ulcers and is very sore. Have you ran a fever? Are there any other signs down there? If your doc hasn't checked on that, I would definitely get them to. They could make you feel a lot better if they find out what it is.

Findacura, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this, as I can totally relate. This has been my life for the past 1 year and a half. If your symptoms are similar to those of abbie84900 then there is a high chance it's PID. Metronidazol gel won't do it. You need both the gel and oral antibiotics and you need them for longer periods. Try 14 days for the oral metro. If BV comes back try another antibiotic like clyndamicin because some bacteria strains are resistant to metro. And always treat your partner too.
I have had these symptoms for a while now. They go away with antibiotics (mine responded best to metro and ceftriaxone) and come back 3 months later. At laparo everything looks good, I had my appendix removed because of inflammation. But the pain is back so I want to see if my BV is there again and try clyndamicin this round.
I do recommend you to try the full PID treatment with ceftriaxone, doxy abd metro for 14 days before anything else. Oh, and I visited like 6 obgyns before getting the right treatment. I had one obgyn diagnosing me with PID and letting me walk out the door with NSAIDs. If it weren't tragic for me, it would be hilarious. So if you feel your doctor is not listening to you, stop seeing him asap. Find one that does.
