Is this glans normal? Didn't have it before...

Hi, i was diagnosed with prostatitis, i had urge to urinate, burning sensation, weak urination, some drops after urination, difficulty to pee sometimes, a pressure in the anus, some semen after i pee (while defecating), like if something pressured the prostate and made that happen. I was treated with antibiotics and a prostate medication to reduce the inflamation. I was tested for STD, they did an sperm cultivation (don't know if it is well written), urine cultivation, and everything came negative. They did me an ultrasound (kidneys, prostate and bladder) and they said it was normal too). Maybe the prostate was a little inflamated I went to two urologists, to a dermatologist, and they all say the purple "ring" on my glans is normal, but, the thing is, as i mention before, is that i didn't have it before. It's more perceptible when the penis is erected (like blood vessels or veins). The glans pealed itself after the infection.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance...

EDIT: The meatus get a little red (sore) after ejaculation.

EDIT 2: I used anti fungal cream, and some with vitamin A (prescribed by one of the urologists). The other urologist said all is normal, same as the dermatologist.

It also looks like there's inflammation around the urethra as well a red dot on the left side of the glans (2nd photo). It's strange that the urologist and dermatologist would say it's normal if you showed them those photos.

Did a doctor diagnose you with prostatitis? Usually for bacterial prostatitis it's several weeks of antibiotics. You took antibiotics for several weeks? Did all your other symptoms improve (like the urination urgency, burning sensation, etc.)? How long have you had the redness on the penis? Did you have sex before all this happened? Are you diagnosed with any other skin conditions (ex: do you have redness anywhere else on your body?)

A lot of people on this forum have similar symptoms (unexplained redness around urethra, as well as other balanitis) and some go to the top doctors in the world who can't seem to diagnose the cause.

I think your case, and others here with similar symptoms might be that the infection is still present somewhere along the urinary tract causing irritation/erythema of the glans. There is a big rise in antibiotics resistant bacteria. Additionally if biofilm forms in the prostate that is hard to treat as well.

The urge to urinate is no present anymore. The burning sensation is still there. If i masturbate to decompress as the urologist said i get the sympthoms described in the pictures, redness around the meatus, burning sensation, and the purple thing ... I didnt and i dont have any skin conditions in my body. I took the antibiotics till the doctor said that i should not take them anymore. But it seems like you say that there is an infection still present in the urethra. What should i do? I will go and find another doctor and show him these pics again. Maybe he has a different opinion. All this is very annoying. I wanna get ride off the burning sensation, i think if that go away, the redness and the purple think will go away too. Thanks.

Edit: i have a girlfriend, 3 years of relationship. i had sex in february because we live a little away from each other. The redness around the urethra appeared after i got better.

Well I would start by going back to the doctor that diagnosed you with prostatitis. A lot of times it's difficult to treat, so perhaps the infection is still present. Although, if the sperm test, urine test, imagining tests, etc. were all normal, why did the doctor think it was bacterial prostatisis? But either way the antibiotics seemed to help some of your symptoms.

Does the redness only happen when you have an erection? When the penis is flaccid (soft) it is not red/purple? And your girlfriend doesn't have any problems in that area (itching, burning, rash, discharge, odor) ?

Hi. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow again.

My girlfriend doesnt have anything, just me.

When is erected, the purple ring in the base of the glans it is more noticeable, in fact, the pictures were taken in that state. Same as the redness in the meatus, it gets more noticeable when erected. I get discomfort when i need to pee or arriving the night. It gets worse at night. What i think is maybe the symptoms went away by their own, but it is very unlikely. Thanks.

I have something that looks familiar with lots of same symptoms. Gets worse longer day goes on, purple ring with cracks (wasnt there before) and can hurt at times. Been tested for all the usual suspects and in short doctors think its in my head as all come back negative.

Hi. That's the easier diagnostic, us being crazy. I am going to see another urologist today and see what happens. This is no life for me.

Let me know how get on. Not sure where I go next with it but might try the next gen test some mention

Hi. Doctor said that all tests were fine. Basing on the symptoms that i had/have, it's chronic prostatitis and the purple ring and the urethra inflammation are normal. He said i need to live together with this condition. Some days it will be worse, some days it will be better, but it's a difficult illness and hard to treat.

Tell me, what are these next gen tests? Thanks!

It's interesting that the urologist said that prostatitis could cause the "purple ring." Most doctors say that prostatitis wouldn't affect the skin on the penis. However I have talked to a physician in an STD clinic, who said she's seen inflammation and skin redness on the glans with prostatitis. The theory is that the urethral irritation could cause some dermatological issues.

Did the urologist say if it is bacterial?

In fact, he didn't say the purple ring is caused by the prostatitis, he said to me that is normal (i express myself wrong). Then the inflammation and the irritation are "normal" with prostatitis? Ok, some peace of mind... But i have to live with this sh*t.

No, nothing appeared in the tests to say it's bacterial. But with the symptoms i had (explained in my thread) he said to me that it is a chronic one.

EDIT: I visited two urologists. The 1st one made me take antibiotics, but in the tests nothing appeared, nothing viral nor bacterial (sperm and urine). Don't know why he gave me antibiotics. And the second one told me it is chronic prostatitis, based on what he saw in the tests and what i told him.

EDIT 2: The dermatologist said everything was ok, too.

Yeah im in the same place. We don't think its anything that bad so live with it and here have some counselling to deal with the anxiety. Im more inclined to try and find a solution but proving tricky. Apparently you can't mention the name on here but google next gen testing and you should find it. US based only but they do deal internationally

Hi, sorry for the late response. I found an urologist/andrologist (penis diseases). People say he is the best around. I'll go next tuesday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi. I went today to the doctor. I told him all of my symptoms and he did a rectal examination and took a look of my glans. They said is a mix-up of stress and prostatitis (and also balanitis, caused by stress too, that cause the defences to let their guard down -don't know how to explain this in english, sorry-). I have a fungal infection, will be treated with an antifungal, i must wash my glans, use toilet paper too to clean it, and i should go to the psychologist to treat my anxiety disorders (i do have some issues with that) and take some pills to the prostate inflammation and to open the urethra and have no discomfort while urinating (here, the remedy is called "Tarusol").

(Translated from spanish) Tamsulosin is a selective antagonist of alpha1 adrenergic receptors that reduces the tension of the smooth muscles of the prostate and the urethra (the tube that carries urine to the outside). As a result of this, the urethra, which passes through the prostate, is less contracted and facilitates urination.

Tamsulosin Teva is used in men to treat lower urinary tract discomfort caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is an enlarged prostate gland.

Thanks for the update and good luck with treatment. I've had a similar diagnosis and been given something for the anxiety although still not clear as to whats causing underlying issue

Hi. I am going to keep you posted. Maybe in two weeks or a month to see what will happen with this treatment. Good luck for your problem too. We have to take things easier, but it is difficult when you are like this for so many years. Cheers.
