is this itchy skin part of fibro?

Hi

These past few weeks I have been suffering with really bad itchy skin on my legs and sides of my body. At first I thought maybe I need to put more cream on but that has made no difference what so ever. The itching is so bad that I could literally claw myself to death 😁 Is this part of fibro and does anyone else have it?

thanks x

Yes I get bouts of itching, usually starts close to my period but can last months or just a few days. I don't know if it's an allergy type response but i will even get itchy dry in eyes throat mouth etc. Not sure what causes mine yet.

Could be a med side effect

Could be an allergy to a new laundry powder or even a change of formula your not aware of.

    Could be dry skin

The solution for me is Eurax cream or the thin lotion, it's very fast acting and although it's not a solution to itching in some places it's very effective on skin. It helps me with my raynauds and chillblaines to which burn and itch terribly, it's only a few pounds at the chemist and I would definitely recommend it.

Let your dr know as itching can sometimes be a sign of kidney and liver problems which if your on meds might need checking out.

Yes me to....  fingers, hands.  Occasionally my legs, but I cannot scatch my legs as I have developed the yukky break down of collagen under the skin that usually is what Diabetics suffer with, BUT I am NOT Diabetic!..?   Yes, research over the years have discovered this fact.  I won't wear dresses, shorts or skirts anymore due to these UGLEY area's all round my legs.

Look up Fibromyalgia Rashes on the MSN New page....  Nothing nice but it will answer some questions for you..

    Hi Alison

Yes itchy skin is so bad. My back is the worst and i have a back scratcher that i use. I scratch to the point of pain and still need to scratch more. At night my legs get really bad but recently i have found a cream that helps with the legs. I put it on about 10 minutes before i go to bed and so far so good. Its E45 Itch Relief. If only my arms were long enough to reach my back lol. Anyway love and hugs to all xxx

That's all I seem to do is itch, if I'm out trying to do it without being noticeable is the worst part.

    Hi Alison,

Itchy skin, irritation and in some cases rashes seem to be a side effect for some reason or the other when it come to fibro. I mix Vitamin E oil with my lotion (my preference Jergens) in the morning after I shower and raw cocoa butter (can be found in natural stores) in the nights after i shower. It works. Hopes this help.

I don't know if it is part of fibro but my itching is literally driving me crazy. I can't find anything that even helps at all. I also would love to hear from someone with the same problem. Help please.

I too suffer this horrible itching and get awful bouts of it.

I itch in my sleep, and sometimes it is so bad that my partner wakes me up concerned as I have been scratching/clawing at my face.

      Hi Holly

Yeah my doctor seems to think that it's down to stress as my work have been giving me a really hard time for the last 6 months. I've had loads of blood tests and everything came back clear. It must be down to stress as I'm currently signed off sick as they flared my fibro up so much but now I'm away from work the itching has calmed down. Terrible really to think they have stressed me out that much it's caused this terrible itching.

Hope you find out the cause of yours x

Alison, I have had itching for months now and cannot tie it to anything. I have to take a allergy pill for mild relief. How is the name of that lotion? I live in the United States so I'm not sure if they carry it here. Hope that will help your itching as it is so terrible to have.

      Hi Sandra

My doctor has put mine down to stress as my work have been giving me a really hard time for the last 6 months. I had blood tests done to see if I was allergic to anything and to also check my liver etc and everything came back clear. It must be due to the stress they are causing me as I'm currently signed off sick as they flared my fibro up so bad and now I'm away from that place it has started to calm down.

Hopefully it will stay away as I'm not going back x
