is this itchy skin part of fibro?

Hi
These past few weeks I have been suffering with really bad itchy skin on my legs and sides of my body. At first I thought maybe I need to put more cream on but that has made no difference what so ever. The itching is so bad that I could literally claw myself to death 😁 Is this part of fibro and does anyone else have it?
thanks x

Dry skin skin can itch easier to hydrate, by drinking lots of water and using skin moisturizers. Dry Skin itching and all over body itching are two different things. Have you tried taking anrihistimines.

It's a different anti histimine that takes a different path in the immune system than OTC drugs works thru. Rather than alerting the immune system to send out histimines which causes more itching. Like most over the counter anti histamines are designed to stop runny noses itchy eyes or hives. We do not experience those symptoms. It's the histimines in our system that is released in the first place for some reason causing the itchiness. Taking OTC releases more histimines from the body and more itchiness.
Ask your doc.for a RX. if you can take it with other supplements and prescriptions you are currently taking.
i went thru years of suffering with this problem and many sleepless nights even thru allergy tests, no allergies. Also checked for STD's none. Also found I was allergic to opiates taken for surgery which probably initiated the pathway for histimines released in my body causing this itching many years ago as the body makes anti bodies against the meds causing an allergic reaction.
This prescription was the only thing that finally worked for me. I was fortunate enough to have a internist who was a pharmacist and understood the various pathways in the body each anti histamine OTC is responsible, for as well as the bodies own antibody fighting the foreign micro bodies sending out signals for histamine release causing extreme itchiness.
Also many supplements have fillers in them not listed on the bottle. Perhaps that is another issue for you to cut out for a week . If the itching stops, then slowly start back taking one supplement at a time to rule them out. If a supplement is the culprit then change brands.
I went thru all the usual suspects until finally the doctor wrote me a RX.
Its so frustrating I know how impossible this can seem. Contact you physician and try the prescription for Hydroxyzine Hcl first for immediate relief.
Let me know if this works for you. It took years to finally find the answer and beleive me I went thru it all including the allergy testing, light therapy, bedding mites, no mites I had no visible signees of a rash ever. Other than scratching that made the itching worse and some small spots from scratching appeared.its a vicious cuddle. Also tried laundry detergents and soaps with laurel sulfate seems to cause many to itch.
My mother had the same problem. It just was not dry skin or any allergy to anything. The only thing that she had at the time was oatmeal baths.
Once you have tried the prescription I hope it works for you and you can find relief . It always only takes just one pill to knock it out.
I can't begin to tell you what a relief it finally was. Been taking the RX now for over ten years. Works every time for me. A 30 day RX lasts for months because it only takes one pill occasionally. I hope you find the same results. Let me now if you try Hydroxyzine and what results you experience.
Best wishes.
