is this normal..?

Hello everyone, I know I've been posting a bunch on here lately but it seems you all are so understanding and I could really use that right now!

So I've been having chest pain (left side) for a few weeks now and today was my first appointment. I've also had palps, and some shortness of breath. I went in and the doctor told me my heart rate was at 110 bpm. He did and ekg and told me my heart rate was very fast (again) and my bp is slightly above normal. He told me to come back next week for an echo and also to have a monitor put on. I honestly thought this was going to be a one appointment type of thing - like I go in and he tells me whether I'm dying or not. Now I have to wait a whole week for the test and I'm FREAKING out. What do they do in an echo? Why does he need me to do this? What if something comes back wrong? He said it could be stress.. but I'm so scared it's not. sad I'm worried sick. Just wondering about others experience.. is this normal?

    Hi kristi,

i am a paramedic and just to say straight away if you dr had any concerns about your heart he would not be leaving it a week. Its a good thing that he is being thorough and checking with an echo, it will also give you peace of mind once you have had it done
