Is too much liquid antacid bad for you??

I've been drinking liquid antacid for reflux maybe 2-3 times per week. I only started doing this a week ago because it got more frequent. Do others do this and is it bad for your organs?

No its not. You could drink half a bottle of the stuff and your no where even close a low dose PPI.  Most just turn acid into water. When I came down from a high dose PPI I went through 2 bottles a week. Calm down and pop to the docs to find out why your having a reflux bout. I've seen a comment re gallstones lol. You would have to drink bottles of the stuff for years. All liquid Antacids are really mild. Stop the panic.

I have always heard that vinegar and honey is very good for this and you can take Tums pretty regular they just can be kind of constipating why don't you try buying some kombucha from the Kroger store its liquid drink a third of a cup each day till your body gets used to it it is a probiotic that's good for that at least give it a try keep it in the refrigerator and don't shake it you can ask the grocery stores where they keep it at it's a fizzy drink it's a fermented drink anything for a minute is very good for you and very good for heartburn

Make sure it is apple cider vinegar and put a little bit in some purified water with some honey so it won't be so bad to taste

I believe milk only causes problem when its not organic raw and when a person probably has extreme case of acid production that needs blockers. Drinking milk through out day at least twice a day helps with acid control. But yes if a person has nausea and drinking milk also make them nauseated then sure it will increase acid production or atleast the feeling that there is too much acid in stomach.

I have tried both varieties of milk and both have never caused me any problems. I have also taken it for nausea and it helped. Occasionally, my stomach has been too irritated for anything to work, even milk.  Bur in the main. milk works a treat.

I have had milk that is not organic or raw and it causes me no problems.  The problem is more if you have an allergy or intolerance to milk.

I have chronic nightime acid reflux (i have a hiatus hernia & history of gastritits). i take 20mg esomeprazole twice daily (total 40mg) & sometimes that doesnt even control it. so more recently, i have taken 20mg in morning & before bed now have 2 rennie extra tablets which help better to stop any nightime reflux. when i have had a nightime reflux attack, i always go to half a pint of 1% fat milk which really soothes the throat & stomach. sip it slowly. then before going back to bed take 2 more rennie extra.  milk (as pippa says) IS a natural neutraliser of acid (my nhs dietician told me this). with my other bowel/digestive conditions i am often nauseous at breakfast time & rely on milk or yoghurt for brekkie as it reduces the nausea, soothes my stomach & provides me with some nutrition.  i am finding the 1  esomeprazole (ppi) in morning & 2 antiacid tablets at bedtime more successful in controlling the awful nightime reflux much better than 2 doses of ppi

I've got acid reflux and the doctor who diagnosed it prescribed me an endless amount of antacids. What they don't tell you is that if you continue to take a lot of antacid over several weeks or months is that your body thinks 'oh, I don't seem to have enough acid in my stomach, I'll start producing some more to help', so then when you come off them the problem is even worse. Please don't take them for a long period of time.

I have a bottle capful of organic unfiltered, unpasturised cider vinegar in a glass of water every morning after waking up (the acidic vinegar becomes alkaline when in the stomach). I have altered my diet to help as well, but having a glass of water with a bottle capful of this every morning works as well if not betetr than any antacids I've been prescribed in the past.

I find that antacids and milk work very well for me.  I can take vinegar mixed with olive oil, salt and pepper as a dressing  on salads but taking it neat in a capful would give me terrible hearburn.  I find vinegar has an acidic effect on my stomach rather than alkaline.

I think you may be right. I find that when I try to come off the PPI (Prilosec), I get more reflux....so then I go back on the tablets, and it's an endless cycle. Any advice on how to ween myself off?

You need to get more fiber in your diet. Apple cider vinegar with the mother helped me and also eating late is a major contributor. Adjust your diet a little and get off those tablets.
