It has been 9 months since my prostatectomy now what?

It has been 9 months since my prostatectomy and everything is fine except for sexual function. Cialis does not work at all and I have been able to get an erection with injections. I have had successful intercourse once and the rest of the times it was too painful to have sex. Please is there anyone out there with similar frustrations that could share with me what they have done to solve the problem.

    Mark,

i am 7+ months post RP with nothing spontaneous so far. Started TRIMIX in mid of April and had sex twice with my first post RP orgasam at 6 months mark. My orgasam was nothing to what it was prior to surgery. It felt like switch was turned off at that moment but to get to that point it was extremely hard. Felt like useless work for nothing.

Another problem is lost lengyof my penis. My penis in erection state looks pathetic like pre pubescent penis. TRIMIX can not expand it to anything close to compensate for my loss.

I am in long relationship, otherwise, with penis of this size I feel terrible but my wife understands and sometimes she also asks what happened to my size. She is saying it was not this small right after surgery but gradually I lost more then 2 inches which is pronounced even more when in erection.

Have you tried using a penis pump? They are usually recommended to prevent shortening after surgery.

Barney, I haven't tried the pump yet only the injection and I don't get as hard as I use to before the surgery.

I occasionally use the pump and from I read, nobody is as hard post surgery as they were prior to surgery, regardless of whether a pump or meds are used.

I cannot say if injections into the penis can make a person harder than before surgery.

I just started using a pump and I wish I had started earlier. I was quite bummed at how small I was post-op but after using the pump a few times a week, I'm trying to use it more now, I have gained a lot of size back, even though I have not been able to get an erection. I started daily Cialis and I'm hoping that one of these times, it will stay up.

Rick, do you think the pump is better then the injection ??? I sometimes use the injection and it's not really working well.(can't really get hard).

I can't say if the pump is better than injections because I still have not managed to get a full erection. I am just finishing up a months worth of daily Cialis, and i'm not sure how much, if any, that helped, but I will say that since I've started using the pump, I've gained a lot of size back. This has helped tremendously as far as feeling better about myself.

Unfortunately, my benefits plan will not cover the daily dose Cialis, but thay will pay for the 20mg ones, so I am going to stop the daily dose ones and just take a 20mg pill a couple of times a week and see where that goes.

Hold on. If your insurance only pays for 20mg pills and not the 5 mg daily dose, why don't you buy a pill cutter and cut the 20 into 4 daily doses. I did that with Levitra when I was in a similar situation.

I'll have to ask the pharmacist about that, but the specialist said the are not the same in the way the active drug is released.

Yes, I did. It did not work for me.

It defletes really fast even with constricting ring.

No. Don't ask the pharmacist, who makes money by selling more meds than less meds. Ask your urologist or primary care physician ie General Practioner.

      Dear Rick

I cannot help thinking that your specialist is talking nonsense. If does not seems to be very likely that the composition of different sizes would have a different make up. Also I've not been aware of any reports that halving the tablet size resulted in unexpected experiences that could have substanciated your specialist's concerns.

      Cheers Richard

That's what I was thinking too. I'm just going to go ahead and cut some up and see if they work.
