It's getting me down now ...

I've been suffering from Sinus pain for quite some time now, mainly the bridge of my nose. I don't get any nasal mucus but I do get constant thick post nasal drip. Always feel lightheaded (not vertigo) and frontal headaches. I am also tired all the time. I have also had two very bad bouts of sinus tooth pain (extremely painful) which I had to take antibiotics for.
I saw an ENT specialist a few months ago, I was in and out of his room in minutes! As I could breathe through my nose, he just told me to do a saline douche for my post nasal drip. Snorting the solution up my nostrils from cupped hands. But I stopped doing this after a few weeks as I thought maybe the salt was more drying. I cannot blow my nose as there is nothing there. I need things to flow as it should, not down the back of my throat. Can anyone relate to any of this? If so what have you done that has helped?
I don't know if there is any connection but it all seemed to start when I had a total hysterectomy a few years ago.
I also don't seem to get any wax in my ears.

Hi welshcath,
How are you doing now? I have similar problems with my sinuses. I've been to the ent and I have inflamed sinuses and large turbinates. I've already had 2 sinus surgeries but they never fixed my frontal sinuses or the ones right behind the bridge of my nose. So I have severe pain when I get an allergy attack. Everything swells up inside and they think it may be pushing on my nerves as everything is just so squished up top. I can breathe fine through my nose because all the swelling is above it. The bridge of my nose is extremely painful at times. I usually take Advil and tylenol together or Tramadol or tylenol with codiene when the pain is severe.
It also feels very dry in my nostrils and up a bit higher as I think the mucus can't flow properly. I find steaming my face helps but usually the pain comes back in about 20 minutes.
I'm having surgery by a different and much more skilled ent on Oct 20th. But I have to pay privately because the wait list is at least 2 years and I honestly can't wait anymore. I've had to give up my job. I'm 41 years old. I feel my life has been stolen from me. I'm praying this surgery works.
I also will be starting allergy shots once I'm healed from surgery because this happened due to allergies and also my anatomy. My sinuses just weren't formed properly. I also have to go to a different city to have surgery because I'm seeing the top sinus doctor for my revision surgery. It's been a long road.
Oh I also don't ever have ear wax and I get post nasal drip as well. The saline nasal rinse I tried as well but I was told to stop as it was drying out my sinuses.
I hope you are on the mend. Sorry my reply is so long!

Hi carissa55
Thank you for your message. It sounds as if you have been through the mill [sad] You would think after having an op to put things right, all would be ok. But I have read on here, many of you have had ops and are still suffering! I hope this time things go well for you, fingers crossed all will get sorted. Awful that you now have to pay or wait 2 years!!!
As for me, I'm on the waiting list to see another ENT specialist, I think there may have been some miscommunication with the first one I saw. I don't have any tooth pain at the moment, it's still between my eyes, bridge of nose and forehead. I've also had a cold this past 2 weeks so the post nasal drip is as bad as ever.
Do you also get any light headedness and/or brain fog at all?

Yes I definitely get brain fog and my balance isn't as good when I have this pain. But I'm also really sensitive to synthetic scents so sometimes I think that's where my brain fog comes from. I don't wear any scents anymore but I mean when I'm out in the public.

Awful isn't it Well keep us informed on how your op goes on the 20th. Hope it will put an end to it all.
