Itching Unbearable

Hi. I am new to this site and looking for help. I was diagnosed with LS just a few months ago and have had it since April and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I am so discouraged. I have been reading a lot of discussions and most talk about managing pain but my main problem is unbearable itching. This can lead to pain if I scratch too much but otherwise I don't have the pain. I started out on the clob for 6 weeks, per Dr. then was supposed to switch to a week a month. Clob worked well for the 6 weeks but LS itching came back with a vengeance 5 days after stopping it. Tried using it again and it made everything worse. My dr has no other suggestions except clob but I am telling you it makes me itch so bad after one use now that it takes days to recover. I've had moderate relief with using tea tree oil and lavender oil and some various other things but the itching has flared up so bad at night I can't sleep. Just looking for some advice on the itching. This is such a depressing disease!! Thanks.

Thanks to all who have replied so far. I've been trying some of the things you've all suggested and have had a MUCH better week. Also just knowing there are others that understand helps. :-)

Glad the Benadryl has helped.  There are lots of different anti-histamines on the market.  If one stops working you can try another like loratidine or cetrimide hydrochloride.  My daughter has hayfever and changes them according to what problems she has.  Cetrimide one is good for skin calming after allergic reactions which I kind of think Ls is.

    hi kimmiesue

how are you getting on now?

i see you had a gluten sensitivity test. just a bit of advice which was passed on to me. The test is only positive in the absolute last stages whereby coeliac or chrohns is being manifest and then its too late to recover from the damage caused to our intestinal villi - which will have been flattened and malabsorption  results.

For this reason an elimination regime is the best test. So you leave out gluten and grains for 30 days and then re-introduce (or not obviously if you feel better). If symptoms return then we have gluten sensitivity. If, like me, you've also got thyroid issues gluten needs to be avoided permanently as it mimics thyroid tissue and is mistaken for it so our thyroid  gets attacked by our immune system in error.

There's more to explain but you may have found your way?

    Hoping you feel better. x

My husband thinks I've got the 7 year itch! The itching is driving me crazy! I've just started on the clob 3 days ago twice a day but the itching is still bad. My regular doctor was treating me for recurring yeast infection and finally sent me to a gyn. I was desperate. I tried gold bond rapid relief, gold bond with lidocaine, jock itch cream and spray. Then the gynocologist started the stetroid cream. It's been 3 days and still not gone! How long does it take? Very embarrassing.

Try cutting out all sugars, natural as well, that should help a lot X

Is it possible you are using too much? My doctor has been very clear to use maybe barely a pinkie tip worth of clobetasol, because it can cause a steroid burn. Then rub it in a lot.
