yo so im 18 years old (male) never had a health problem in my life except for athesmah or however you spell it lol. Ive always been in great physical shape normally working 40 hrs a week (in the summer) and going to the gym 5 out 7 days lifting weights, running, playing basketball etc. this summer i was doing fine like i said working, wotking out then i got my wisdom teeth out, got a virus and havent been the same since. ive had so many tests done its not even funny, ct scan with contrast head chest abdomen ive had tons of blood work testing everything from thyroid to Mono... ive been tested for Mono three times and lymes disease twice as i had a tick bite, the only thing left to check is my adrenal function... doing an ACTH test this week to rule that out (i have orthostatic hypotension btw)...oh an have had heart completely checked out and all is normal...however this has been my normal day for the past 6 months. Wake up completely exhausted struggle to go to school (im homeschooled and am taking classes at a college) 2 days a week, not able to play in my basketball practice because everytime i exercise i pass out taking naps through out the day because im so tired...oh and i wake up constantly in the night however falling asleep is easy, also im lightheaded almost all day and have severe brain fog. Ive always been a worrier before this but since the illness i have had severe and constant anxiety....my doctor has practically given up and is saying it must just be anxiety and depression however i went to a therapist and she told me that i do NOT have depression but do suffer from anxiety, she believes that there is an underlying issue where as my doctor does not...im not sure what to do as i am not able to do anything but the most absolutely important (non fun) things in life. I am on prozac because my doctor told me it would help...been on it 3 months and no difference whatsoever...my question is Could this all just be anxiety? and if not then what the heck could it be? sorry for the long post btw first timer

What about chronic fatigue?? Has this been looked at, could possibly be the reason .

    HI William

You do sound like you have an element of anxiety but passing out and that chronic tiredness is not usually a symptoms.  Has he tested for glandular fever, ME or chronic fatigue?  The last two are notriously hard to diagnose to be fair as they're quite non specific but they do exist.  Obviously you are not suffering from something life threatening as you've had all scans going and nothing to be found.  I work as a medical secretary in a cancer clinic and I wonder if you're suffering from post viral syndrome, we get lots of patients referred to us after a simple virus that are really struggling wtih their health, tiredness etc and it's just a matter of time before they are back on their feet.  Google post viral syndrome and read about it.  If your doctor isn't taking your seriouslyl do you have the option of changing doctors?  It's your health and if you feel your doctor is unsympathetic and notn taking you seriously you are within your rights go speak to someone else.  I'm not trying to feed your anxiety at all, like I said it doesn't sound anything serious as you've had so many tests but all your symptoms don't fit with anxiety either.  Keep persevering with your doctor and get to the bottom of this.

    Hugs xx

thanks for all the advice i have had my thyroid tested two times but my indochronologist still thinks it could be an adrenal or thyroid problem as i have developed adhd anxiety extereme fatigue insomnia brain fog puffy eyes and big tongue, however i would think if the test is normal all is normal...i did go to a famous iridologist named ruben and he said it was my thyroid and adrenal system withen 10 sec of looking in my eyes...i would say it could be cfs or postviral fatigue but i dont think that woul cause insomnia add/adhd problems and sudden anxiety... im thinking about just starting treatment for hypothyroid regardless of the tests as i have done reaserach and have seen peope get better with treatment when the tsh was normal....thanks again everyone!!

Hi William. I have an underactive thyroid. When I initially had tests I was told that it wasn't a thyroid issue as my results were borderline and this would mean I wouldn't be experiencing tiredness, weight gain, been foggy headed etc. the tiredness I experienced during this time was unbelievable - it was like having flu constantly, walking to my car became so hard and if I did have a good day where I felt like I could exercise, I would be physically sick. After about 8 months my doc put me on levothyroxine and over time I have improved. Thyroid disorders are difficult to diagnose and symptoms of over and underactive thyroid can be the same!

I don't recall being anxious at that time but I spent a lot of time at home! I didn't really go to my uni lectures much either as I would get sent home as I looked like crap!!! I do suffer from anxiety and have done through the majority of my life. I suffer with lack of confidence. I chatted to a lady a while back who's daughter had just ben diagnosed with a thyroid problem and she said I reminded her so much of her daughter, even my mannerisms. I think thyroid probs can affect every part of you.

I was/am like this too, im 19 but when I was at school I was ill for around four months, had loads of blood tests and everything yet they didn't know what was wrong with me. I hated it. In the end I had to get a family friend member who worked at the school as a teacher to take me to school. I grew out of it, but yet again I never go out, so it comes and goes, I hate it.

Hows your food intake? Because sometimes I feel like having a perfect food intake can really help?
