jaw pain

Hi ladies

Newly diagnosed peri menopausal, had numerous symptoms, all tests clear apart from low vitamin d which I'm now taking a supplement for. I suffered for a while with rib pain but this seems to have worn off but I have jaw pain and pain in my sinus area..... Anyone else suffered with this it's not constant just now and then on both sides at different times. Sheena x

Hi Sheena. I'm peri too. i had some bloods done in august & was found to have "insufficient" levels of vit d, so my doc put me on 40mg (or 1600iu) daily in september. I have just recently found in the last 2-3wks that general aches & pains are virtually absent now & in particular chronic pain for the last 2yrs in my right outer hip/knee/calf are also virtually absent now. i have had investigations for this chronic pain & was found to have swollen tendons at the point of where they enter the bone at my right hip & would wake me up every bloody night, but the last few weeks it has gone! i saw my specialist this week & i told him about the vit d supplementation & its been about 2mths on it now, & he said it could well be the vit d levels now good as vit d is essential for muscle & bone health.  its the only thing that's changed (adding vit d) the last few months, so i think it has helped........i now have to buy them myself so i am going to stick with the same dose of 40mg as i think it must be doing me good. x

      Hi

I'm also low in vitamin d but not enough for doctors to treat so I buy my own will check dosage. I have been taking them for about 3 weeks and my rib pain is now pretty much non existent. My jaw has only just started this last few days and is on and off, left then right, so blooming frustrating but I'll persevere and hope the vitamin d works for it too. I hope your period stopping doesn't make yours start again it's a right chew on isn't it you never know what the next day is going to bring but I try to stay positive and have downloaded a relaxing technique onto my phone that I'm going to try tonight so I can use it to switch off and focus when I need to. Hugs and thanks for reply xxx

Oh God yes and I have thought I was going mad! Nothng shifts it and to be honest I try not to think about it, I think my pain sensors are totally knackered. I had trigeminal neuralgia when I was younger, think it might still be there. But I do grind me teeth as well.

I am currently having day 10 ish of a heavy period having not had one since June and although the tranexamic acid hasn't worked this time my sinuses and my jaw are not giving me any trouble for the last 10 days.

Guarantee if this period ever stops the jaw will start again!

Well I hope that once period stops pain doesn't return it's just a nuisance not knowing what to expect. I've always been fairly healthy other than psoriasis which funnily enough has got better not worse but I hate taking tablets but I also hate not being myself which is the way I feel at the minute. Squishy hugs xxx

Yes Sheena - I've had it off and on for a couple of years (I wonder if maybe I clench in the night and that aggravates it too). I've had sinus issues before in my life, but not constantly. This recent few months of fairly constant sinus pain is due to my hormones, I'm sure of it. My family is used to hearing me say, "arg, my left sinus is on fire!" My head in general has been the latest "victim" in my little PM journey. Tinnitus is off the charts, jaw ache, tons of head pressure and ear pressure (this one is kind of tough to explain and even I feel like a nut trying to describe it - to my dearest friend I've said that it feels as if you were to blow a balloon up in my skull. The pressure increases in my ears and this is sometimes exacerbated when I'm being "on" at work and talking quickly or even singing makes it worse). So hard to describe... I've also recently had eye pain and little flashes of pressure headache when I've quickly turned my head. Yesterday and today, I have had that hot burning mouth come back again, so I'm assuming it's connected to the fact that I'm currently 6 days past my menstrual cycle prediction. I use the term "prediction" loosely, these days. I've gone anywhere from a 15 day cycle to a 46 day cycle in the past 2 years. I pretty much chalk everything up to peri-menopause, even though my doctor said that that's not likely. Thanks to this forum, I know that it can very well be likely.

I'm relieved to see people posting about their rib pain as well. It was one of my first scary (to me) symptoms. I hope your symptoms subside soon - take care.
