Jobs after a hip replacement

Good morning everyone , I was just wondering where are you working after a total hip replacement ? Does the job includes heavy lifting ? Lots of bending etc ?

I'm looking for a job all the time and I'm still confused about what kind of job I should / shouldn't be doing .. after my story about last job when everyone told me I was doing way too physical job .

Thank you everyone

    Hi Angelika,

I have a desk job which is not really ideal after having a FHR because of all the sitting.  I'm now 8 months post op and doing very well.  I've attempted to bend and lift things while at home, but I my hip doesn't like it.  It might be that I need to do more strengthening exercises.  I couldn't imagine having a daily job of bending and heavy lifting.  I doubt that something strenuous like that would be a good choice either after the operation.

The ideal job would be one where you can get up and move around and sit as needed.   Good luck!

Well I was able to do lots,of heavy work including looking after sheep...they can struggle with some power, unloaded lorry loads of hay bales and carried them across the fields in the winter, carried 25kg bags of cement, mixed and barrowed dozens of tonnes of concrete, rebuilt a large amount of stone walls, did roof reconstruction and tiling and slating and office work!

Do whatever you feel comfortable with doing but do not run or do anything that causes impact to your hip.

      Cheers Richard

Since posting this I've done some strengthening exercises.  I'm able to bend and lift much more weight without hurting.  As I sit at a desk during the week, I know that I'll need to continue to exercise at night to keep my hips working as they should.
