1) You don't need to take the pain meds. If you do, you will get addicted to them
2) Meditation will cure everything
3) Why are you still limping (within the first 3 months), I thought you got your hip fixed?
4) You'll have limitations for the rest of your life now.
5) Why do you need a FHR, you are soooo young?

6) It doesn't look like you need a FHR. My great uncle was doubled over in pain before he got one

This was "today's giggle", thank you for making me smile. I am to have my RTHR on the 24th and will pay attention to what people say, come back here and share with you all.
And BTW I am in aweful pain right now, trying to cross my fingers (never the legs) that all will be better after the surgery

Kara, Very sorry to read about the pain your experiencing. The hippie group have been thru the struggles before & after THR surgery. It takes a lot of courage to make the decision for THR.
Wishing you the best thru recovery, physical therapy and getting back to a better quality of life. Take it slow, it may take 6-12 months to feel back to normal.
Do come back and keep us posted. 👍

To me, waking up from surgery and NOT feeling THAT pain anymore is euphoric --- yes, there will probably other pains, but the bone-on-bone I felt before surgery was gone -
come back here any time to share your thoughts with us okay ..
you are not alone ...

A colleague who said, "Oh you're so lucky missing the end of term....I wish it was my last day today!" (I'm a teacher and I had my hip op in July 2 days before the start of the summer holiday.) I said "well not really lucky, I am going to be in hospital....."
And another friend who said I was doing well, but it was only key hole surgery wasn't it? !!

Judith, it's funny you should say that. One of my co-workers said the same thing. 'you are so lucky that you'll get several weeks off'. Several weeks off would be nice if I'd be on holiday the whole time....Lol.

I know, it's bizarre the way some people think that having an op is like relaxing on holiday!

So many throw away lines come to mind...
Girlfriend drives me to the hospital, stays 20 mins and says "Oh well I better go" I sit for 4 hrs on my own waiting for surgery. She doesn't visit after surgery but does pick me up three days later.... As you may have guessed the girlfriend went the same way as my walking stick, I got rid of both
So many said to me "When are you getting back to work?"
Or prior to surgery "Just get it done! The surgery is nothing these days!" Yeah, from people who have no clue what is involved....
A friend who said this to me tore a ligament just after I got out of hospital. Geez she whinged and moaned and was still limping badly 6 months after surgery
Karma?

Yeah I was pretty blown away by her lack of compassion and understanding. The funny thing is when we first got together she was really sick and I took total care of her for a few days, home made chicken soup, massages etc. Not that I wanted anything in return but hey a visit to see me at the hospital might have been expected... Anyhow I can look back and laugh now. Life's strange journey
