Hi, don't worry! Who has told you you have a vaginal prolapse? Mild prolapse can be helped with female physiotherapy but less mild may need surgery. Do they think you have a bladder prolapse into the vagina?

Hi this is really the best place for help/advice - I've been through three years of problems getting medically pushed around, I'm now 3 1/2 weeks since prolapse surgery and I only found this since I've been recovering, wish I'd found it before as I felt daunted as I didn't know anyone that had a prolapse!

I felt exactly the same, I was trying to hold down a job that is physical and home and family whilst in the last few years being told I have inguinal hernia, prolapse, various spine issues and endometriosis! Everyday was painful and felt like everything was falling out! I kept going backwards and forwards to the doctor and felt like hitting my head against a brick wall, that's why I have got diagnosed with all of the things as they didn't know what was causing all my pelvic pain! You need to get referred by your gp to pelvic floor physiotherapy because if the prolapse is mild that will help, I had to do that before even going on a waiting list to see a urogynaecologist, but by the time I saw one of those the prolapse was at stage 2/3 (which was then 3 found at surgery) which they said needed surgery.

Hi I know you you weren't messaging me but I am six weeks post op posterior repair tomorrow and I feel exactly like you - I've prepared myself to be told I've re -prolapsed as it certainly feels like it! Have done all the things what I should of. I shall let you know how it goes - do you have a post op appointment?

That doesn't seem quite right as surely a gp wouldn't really know whether things were right if they don't 'specialise' in this that's why they refer you to specialists. If you really don't feel right please go to gp x

Fortunately we are in the minority ie problems after surgery, And the great thing is even when things go wrong the hospitals are great at fixing us
?That would have been scary for you losing blood like that. For me I was so doped up I barely had a clue what was going on, so was spared the fear factor of the heart attack. I very vaguely remember the cardiologist saying if we damage the repair they will have to reoperate, thats as they were hauling me off my bed and putting me onto a freezing cold slab thing that they use. By this stage I was checking out as heart rate was down around 40 they told me afterwards. The best thing that happened was having myh op as if Id had the heart attack anywhere else I probably wouldnt have a life or especially the quality of life I have now.

I don't agree with 16wks till sutures start to dissolve. That's not the norm.

When should the sutures go or start to go? I had my post op the other day at 6 weeks and all the consultant said was the stitches were still there, didn't ask about when they should go wish I had! Any ideas???

That is unusual and I wouldn't have thought it was related to your surgery. Have you still got your womb?

If it is a one off so to speak it could be a clot that's been there in the pelvic cavity or from a suture that's dissolved. I've known the occasional clot several months after the surgery being passed. However if it happens more regularly you must see your GP particularly if you have some pain.

The dull ache could be related to a suture however don't ignore it, although I'm sure you won't, if it continues.

Hi, I'd also be interested to her your experiences. I had a cystocele diagnosis a couple of years ago and despite doing lots of pelvic floor exercises it has become bothersome. (Pressure when I'm standing or walking and being externally visible by the end of the day.) At what stage did you decide to have surgery and what was it like? I've an appointment with my GP next week and want to start thinking about what I'm asking her.

eva pelvic floor exercises will not improve a prolapse, all they do is strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. They don't even prevent a prolapse from getting any worse unfortunately.
