Hi, don't worry! Who has told you you have a vaginal prolapse? Mild prolapse can be helped with female physiotherapy but less mild may need surgery. Do they think you have a bladder prolapse into the vagina?

Yeah they are sending for a test I'm so sorecand evertime I stand it feels as though

All falling out . how do I cope with this is making me so stressed xx

Hi there from someone whose been there!  What you are feeling is normal for a prolapse!  I used to describe it as something just stuck in there and I could push it back up but then it would fall again.  See a specialist and get the real information you need to make a decision about how to handle it.  More women than you know deal with this everyday!  Prolapsed happen from so many things...birthing, surgeries, ageing etc.  Please believe me, you are NORMAL!  This is a great place to vent and learn from others so ask away!  I am here for any questions or concerns.  Mine was bad enough for surgery, which I did a year and a half ago.

Hi this is really the best place for help/advice - I've been through three years of problems getting medically pushed around, I'm now 3 1/2 weeks since prolapse surgery and I only found this since I've been recovering, wish I'd found it before as I felt daunted as I didn't know anyone that had a prolapse!

I don't know anyone else as I'm in the country and I feel my doctor isn't helping much I have no quality of life at the moment as so uncomfortable xx

I felt exactly the same, I was trying to hold down a job that is physical and home and family whilst in the last few years being told I have inguinal hernia, prolapse, various spine issues and endometriosis! Everyday was painful and felt like everything was falling out! I kept going backwards and forwards to the doctor and felt like hitting my head against a brick wall, that's why I have got diagnosed with all of the things as they didn't know what was causing all my pelvic pain! You need to get referred by your gp to pelvic floor physiotherapy because if the prolapse is mild that will help, I had to do that before even going on a waiting list to see a urogynaecologist, but by the time I saw one of those the prolapse was at stage 2/3 (which was then 3 found at surgery) which they said needed surgery.

Hi I had my surgery 6 weeks ago how long does it take for everything inside to shrink back I still feel very lumpy inside is this normal or does it mean my prolapse has come back my surgery was for a prolapsed bladder

Hi I know you you weren't messaging me but I am six weeks post op posterior repair tomorrow and I feel exactly like you - I've prepared myself to be told I've re -prolapsed as it certainly feels like it! Have done all the things what I should of. I shall let you know how it goes - do you have a post op appointment?

    • Posted

That doesn't seem quite right as surely a gp wouldn't really know whether things were right if they don't 'specialise' in this that's why they refer you to specialists. If you really don't feel right please go to gp x

Very normal however have you been cleared by your dr? Nothing in vagina until cleared

Hi nessiebabe what you are experiencing sounds to me perfectly normal and you will still be swollen, it takes us months and months to recover. Interestingly the stitches dont start to dissolve until 16 weeks. Are you able to start a new discussion as you will get more responses and some great support. Welcome to our forum regards Kath

My stitches just won't dissolve 😤 My dr said could be up to 6 months!

Hi Steph, Id be interested to see what Matron would say about this, Is this good or bad ? good that you have the extra support of the stitches ? or bad that they could get embedded? I have no idea. Is there a way to help them dissolve ?? creams?. Are they uncomfortable Steph can you feel them  xxx Kath

My dr said they are still helping the repair and they will eventually dissolve. Yes I can sometimes feel them a little pinchy but nothing major. My husband on the other hand would disagree lol

So you had your op in Oct about a month after I had mine aye Steph, So from what Ive learnt on here your stitches should be getting ready to dissolve in about a month I think. I must say I think you are brave having had fun times with the hubby. Ive gone from really enjoying that in my relationship to still reluctant as Im worried about the pain side. Id better get it sorted soon as we are coming up to our 30th Wedding Anniversary in March.

Lol I was looking forward to it to test out the tightening effort! Lmao I have to say I am quite happy about that for once in my life 😏

Oh and yes I had mine 28th of October and back in for emergency next morning due to uterine hemmorhage. Fun times

Fortunately we are in the minority ie problems after surgery, And the great thing is even when things go wrong the hospitals are great at fixing us smile

?That would have been scary for you losing blood like that. For me I was so doped up I barely had a clue what was going on, so was spared the fear factor of the heart attack. I very vaguely remember the cardiologist saying if we damage the repair they will have to reoperate, thats as they were hauling me off my bed and putting me onto a freezing cold slab thing that they use. By this stage I was checking out as heart rate was down around 40 they told me afterwards. The best thing that happened was having myh op as if Id had the heart attack anywhere else I probably wouldnt have a life or especially the quality of life I have now.

Wow I am sure that was very scary! Thank God! Good thing you were where you were!

I don't agree with 16wks till sutures start to dissolve. That's not the norm.

    • Posted

When should the sutures go or start to go? I had my post op the other day at 6 weeks and all the consultant said was the stitches were still there, didn't ask about when they should go wish I had! Any ideas???

    • Posted

Thank you Matron. Still in pain/discomfort after 6 weeks and still feels like prolapse but she said stitches still in place and start physio in a couple of weeks - from the posts on here and your help and advice i am reassured it could be still healing feeling.

Then what is the norm in the country you are in? I suppose it depends on the type of operation someone has ?? As far as I know its 16 weeks when they start to dissolve but Im just a woman whom had the op and that what I was told

My urogyn said it could be up to 6 months. I'm at 13 weeks and they are still there

    • Posted

I think the longer the stitches are in place the better ? as surely it provides more stability (does that make sense) what do you think
    • Posted

Yes definitely. My dr stated they are still helping my repair. Much to the hubbys delight lol ouchie!

Hi chicky, funnily enough if I had to hazard a quess I think my stitches are still with me, I still get tugging now and again and can feel that area if I over stretch at work

Yep same here. Though it is becoming less and less as time goes by 👍🏼

For me Im starting to do more at work as its a very busy time, yesterday which in NZ hours was Saturday was hard out busy, for me that means today Im sore even while Im trying my hardest to take it easy. ( Im a bit of a workaholic)

Sutures take up to 16 weeks to dissolve. They can start to dissolve around 3 weeks.

Hi Matron thanks, Umm I wonder whats going on with me I went to the bathroom this morning and noticed fresh blood, feeling a bit sore today like a dull ache. I dont have periods anymore so its not that. My op was back in Sept
    • Posted

That is unusual and I wouldn't have thought it was related to your surgery. Have you still got your womb?

    • Posted

If it is a one off so to speak it could be a clot that's been there in the pelvic cavity or from a suture that's dissolved. I've known the occasional clot several months after the surgery being passed. However if it happens more regularly you must see your GP particularly if you have some pain.

    • Posted

Ok thanks Matron, for the advice, bit worrying especially the dull ache but Im otherwise fine and all seems to be going well
    • Posted

The dull ache could be related to a suture however don't ignore it, although I'm sure you won't, if it continues.

Ive phoned the nurse waiting for her to phone me back Thanks steph regards kath

Hi, I'd also be interested to her your experiences. I had a cystocele diagnosis a couple of years ago and despite doing lots of pelvic floor exercises it has become bothersome. (Pressure when I'm standing or walking and being externally visible by the end of the day.) At what stage did you decide to have surgery and what was it like? I've an appointment with my GP next week and want to start thinking about what I'm asking her.

eva pelvic floor exercises will not improve a prolapse, all they do is strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. They don't even prevent a prolapse from getting any worse unfortunately.
