Suffered in excess of ten years..
I can Say honestly feel better already then I did pre operation. It still hurts when I have a BM but the duration of the pain actually seems less and going was no problem at all.. A delayed pain did hit me afterwards.. It appears there is more room to go now.. I *hit like a little puppy dog before lol.. Small no room, spasms and shooting pain was the norm. I went to go see a doctor the other day and I broke down in tears. I'm a 230 pound considered to be pretty rugged guy and this was just buckling pain for years and years that I could not take anymore. The doctor felt so bad for me he got me in for surgery the very next day.
Ill report on progress but no regrets here on day two.
If anyone any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them. Operation was pretty easy put me to sleep wake up done.

hello,
i'm about 1 week post-op for LIS. recovery so far has been mixed. the first 2 days following surgery, i had nasty diarrhea that caused bleeding. my bm's have been soft and regular for the most part, however, i've noticed blood in the bowl each time. today, i had a slightly harder bm and there was blood. it felt like i didn't empty my bowels. i felt the urge to go 4 hours later and i strained a bit. not much poo was able to come out but there was blood. i don't feel fissure pain but the incision stings a bit. is it normal to experience swelling and bleeding? did anyone else have that feeling of incomplete evacuation? i'm so afraid that i've somehow undone the procedure and will never heal.

Hi, I've just had a LIS surgery a month ago. The pain was unbearable (due to the healing process of the surgery cuts) but the pain has subsided. However, I'm still experiencing pain during and after bowel movements... Lately there were some blood drips I'm so scared. I don't know but I've got a mixed feeling about my surgery. So some days post-op what I experienced is the pain of getting a surgery. For the bowel movements during that time, sure it wasn't comfortable, but I didn't notice any pain related to fissure.
Then 1 week post-op I had a constipation (like a blockage), I managed to pass a tool with dulcolax but it was terrible since I had to strained real hard (which has been my nightmare all these times) and I got lazy bowel during that time (I hv bowel movements each day though). I also got hemorrhoid (I think bc of the strain).
Then 3rd week post-op my surgery cuts have healed as well as my hemorrhoid. But since then my concern comes to the actual fissure wounds (since it's the only thing left). No constipation, no hemorrhoid, no surgery pain anymore, but my fissure seems not improving. I don't know is this bc I'm still in a process of healing? I'm afraid that the constipation I got and the straining I did has opened a new fissure and that's why I saw some blood drips during my bm? 😦 I really am afraid that after going through such a hard time of undergoing a LIS my fissure still doesn't heal? Tbh this gives me a great anxiety. 😦

Hi there...how's your recovery going now?
I'm at end of first full day after LIS and what worries me is that my BM was remarkably similar to mine from pre-op. Some people say their pain is from incision, not fissure, but I feel pretty much the same so far. Wondering if anyone else experienced this and if it changed for them. I know it's Day 1 and I shouldn't rush to conclusions, but even though I expected discomfort, I somehow thought it would be...different.

Hi Ben congrats for the surgery, wish you a speedy recovery.
Mine has been on and off, tbh I didn't see any improvement from the surgery. Every time I'm getting better, I'd go back to square one no matter what I've done. Some ppl from forum said that the issues may be from the anus to be too tight. Some getting better just from relaxing the anal sphincter with coconut oil for a few weeks religiously, I'd give it a try.
You should make sure to hv smooth bowel movement. Hope yours is better.

Hi
I was wondering how you were feeling after the LIS (It sounds like it was recent).
I have been dealing with my first fissure. It started in late May and I have done the Diltiazem, The Botox, etc. and am in still in pretty bad pain every day (Botox was 5 weeks ago) I have not been able to sit down or drive since May bc of the pain. Today I met with a colorectal surgeon and she said it's time to consider the LIS - what are your thoughts? What was the total recovery time? Looking for advice and hope. Thank you.

Im happy for you mate I cant wait for my surgery im a 26 year old, 6'6 man with wife and two kids and ive been suffering with an Anal fissure for the past 3 years, it has taken over my life I would not wish this upon anybody, im not myself anymore, there are some days where you think man I cant do this anymore, I just want to be a good father/husband like my Father is and have a happy life. I'm currently waiting for Lateral internal sphincterotomy which God I hope it works, but can I ask you a question? did you have any incontinence before your surgery? Its quite a personal question I know you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I have incontinence and I'm hoping LIS will fix it as well as the fissure, this is ruining my life the only thing that keeps me going some days are my wife and kids.

Ive had my surgery 18 days ago . recovery for me was brutal. Im finally feeling less pain during BM but the post burning for a few hours still lingers. Im also feeling burning pain from the fissure. I know you had your surgery a while ago . Are you back to your normal life? Im so fed up dealing with this issue. Any suggestions?

Hi
I just had the sphinerectomy tell me if this is normal
I did two botox injections two years ago very painful
I did nitrocream daily and to be honest it worked minimal pain with bowel movements, between the sitz baths and cream I forgot I had a fissure
I went to see two different colorectal surgeons since being diagnosed two years ago and they both recommended fissure
I went with the surgeon who was less invasive
Postop Day 1: Not much pain immediately
Postop Day1.5: Painful: I had to yank the guaze out, no pain but the rest came out with the first gross bloody BM, it was more painful than ever before the surgery other than when I ate some shelled sunflower seeds and forgot to spit them out (what started the whole thing)
Postop Day 2: No BM
Postop Day3: Severe pain, no BM since post op Day 1 which was minor. Also I ate were salads,, banana and oatmeal. I cannot sit anywhere, toradol takes the edge off the pain. I tried miralax, senna and colace. I dream of having bowel movements but can just pass gas, surgeon says that is okay for now
What should I expect?
Shouldn't this be less painful than before?
I only did the surgery because there was an unhealed cut but honestly it hardly hurt.
When does this get better
I don't have fever
The dermatologist looked at it and no evidence of infection
I am in prone position the only time I am not in pain
I cannot have a bowel movement due to swelling around the anal canal. Surgeon tells me not to worry and it give it time
I have stopped eating due to concerns I could develop a bowel obstruction
