Just had Kenalog Protocol

Hi,
I’ve just had Dr. Feingold’s Kenalog Protocol in New York. I’ve suffered with a fissure for a year and half and tried dilizatem and nifidipine ointment. I eventually developed an allergic reaction to the diltiazem so kept on the nifidipine for about 8 months. It provided a little relief but didn’t heal the fissure. My colorectal surgeon in Toronto eventually offered the LIS surgery as he said it was unlikely to heal after such a long time. I was very hesitant to do that surgery as I’ve read about possible complications and being in my early 30’s I didn’t want to risk it. I researched and found the Kenalog procedure. Where the fissure is cleaned out, cauterized and injected with kenalog steroid. No cutting of muscle so not worry about being incontenet. The only doctor to do it is Dr. Feingold who invented this alternative to LIS in New York City.
I contacted the hospital that he works at and got my colorectal surgeon in Toronto to provide me with all my documentation regarding my condition. I sent it to the hospital via global services and after a fairly long process (4 months) I got word that Dr Feingold was willing to take my case. I flew to New York and had the procedure done yesterday. So far I’m in very little pain and am optimistic that the procedure will be a success. I’ll update throughout my recovery and am happy to answer any questions for those that may be interested this procedure.

hello everyone, I did not have the kenalog procedure, but I had something similar done 4 days ago. I had a chronic fissure cauterized, botox injections, and a skin tag removed. I believe the only difference is that I did not get the kenalog steroid injections. How long did it take to no longer have pain after using the restroom? I believe my pain is from the cauterization wound still.

Weighing in with a different experience. I traveled to NY to have Dr. Feingolds Kenalog procedure 14 months ago and it did not improve my fissure. In hind sight I am dubious of his of the outcomes that he self reports. I wonder if that is why he is no longer at Columbia? I notice that most posts here are either just had the procedure or interested. Any body have a success that they can report 6-12 months out? If not I would be wary!

I had surgery done by Dr Feingold March 2019.
My experience was nothing like the ones I heard from here. I had severe pain for 3 months until I saw Dr Keller at Columbia. She gave me instructions to take ibuprofen with tylenol at the helped me through.
I am on prescribed ointment and watch what i eat. I probably would of been better off with LiS but at this point there is no need for surgery. If I have pain, the pain is dull and goes away fast.
Dr Feingold told me from the start I would have an 85% chance of success but that was up to me and how I baby the 2 AF's I have.
Seems he was right.
I have no clue where Dr Feingold Works at these days. If anyone goes for surgery please check credentials, success rate, patient reviews. See 2,3,5 CRS's If necessary.
